The "Downfall" DLC arrives September 25 and brings with it a new PvE mode (also called Downfall) to enjoy by your lonesome or with a couple buddies online. There's a bit of a rogue-lite vibe to the description the game's creative director, Pierre Tarno, provided in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog:
]]>We'll have our Co-Op Review up later this week, but the long story short is this: we like it! The combat mechanics, the demands put upon the player to focus on learning how their moves transition into one another, and the further demands to learn (in more ways than one) what those moves look like when they're coming at you are all unique. Best of all, it's very straightforward and even if your level of skill/knowledge of fighting games is low, the simplified controls (you just push a couple buttons to attack) means that it's easy to pick up and play.
We've known that Absolver would support three players online in some kind of PvE area for a little while, and the devs have gone into a little more detail about how that happens. There's a little bit of a Journey element to this, where you'll randomly come across other players as you explore the ruined world of the Aslan Empire. Per Pierre Tarno, Creative Director at Sloclap:

While the main focus of the game is to fight other players to become the supreme champion, there is a dedicated PvE area where up to three players can team up online and do some dungeon looting.

Ideally that same fluidity will translate well when playing online with friends where you could, say, take on a group of foes and do some co-op combos to bring them down. Details about the title are sparse for now outside a few marketing bullets, but there is certainly some strong ideas here.
