That's a whole lot to dig into, so let's break it down piece by piece starting with Beatrix. While Beatrix is now live in the game, she's still in a short "Early Access" period where Season Pass holders will be able to play her a week before she's released to the general public. That will be on January 26th, 2017. Beatrix can be unlocked for 47,500 in-game credits or with a hero key, which is included in the Season Pass. 

Once you have access to all of those characters, you'll need to try and figure out which one you like, right? Well that's where the new "Dojo" training mode comes in. Select a character and go up against some A.I. bots to get a better feeling for their abilities and Helix progression system. After you get comfortable with them, then go to town in the cooperative Story Mode, or the PvP mode, if you prefer. Both of those modes are getting some overhaul as well, like better guides in the Story Mode to fill you in on what to do next, and better Credit rewards for both.

Kid Ultra started off as a weaponless machine armed with cartoon and comics knowledge designed to entertain children. Since that's pretty much useless in a fight, Nova and Kleese outfitted him with actual weapons, transforming him from a really good makebeliever to an actual comic book style hero.

The Aussie-voiced snake is mainly a "player killer" character, with his ability to cloak, poison foes, and throw down a smoke bomb to get out of hairy situations. I'm sure that some of those abilities will be beneficial in taking down larger enemies in the PvE mode, though.

According to 2K, all of the operations that will be released over the next few months will allow players to play through them over and over again as "the story, enemies, and objectives will change, increasing the difficulty but also the rewarded loot." They don't go any further into what that means exactly though if it holds up that would certainly bring some welcome replayability to the co-op side of things. Playing the operation will also be the only way to earn the new skins and taunts that are a part of each piece of DLC.

The update actually launched yesterday, so if you've ducked your head into the game since then you've already noticed this addition. The in-game marketplace will let you buy "Platinum" using your real-world money. That Platinum, in turn, can be spent to buy new skins for all 26 of the game's characters, and taunts for a smaller subset (Ghalt, Oscar Mike, Benedict, Shayne & Aurox, El Dragon, Whiskey Foxtrot, Kleese, and Alani). More taunts for other characters will be added as time goes on, along with the ability to buy the DLC packs (whenever they get released).
