Bounty of Blood‘s Wild West-inspired tale of revenge takes place on an all-new planet called Gehenna. The company responsible for some science-y experiments here has long since abandoned the planet, and descendants of the folks who chose to stay behind work hard to eke out a peaceful existence for themselves in and around the town of Vestige. Even if you don't have the DLC, Borderlands 3 is increasing the level cap to 60 for all players.

For starters, there are now more than 25 all-new game-changing modifiers. These range from fun and even helpful modifiers like a big head mode called Galaxy Brain to more challenging modifiers like Drone Ranger, which spawns Healing Drones to assist enemies. Each modifier is rated as Easy, Medium, Hard, or Very Hard, and each of the 10 difficulty levels in Mayhem 2.0 uses a specific mix of these ratings, though the modifiers themselves are selected at random from within those ratings pools.

The minigame, which can be found in a corner of Doctor Tannis' infirmary, is something of an arcade puzzler wherein the player maps out rows of tiles to the best of their ability.  What's going on behind the scenes, though, is that the results of these sessions help researchers map out and catalogue the human gut biome.  On top of that, participating players will earn in-game currency that they can then spend on character boosting items.  The whole operation is laid out in more detail in the video below:

It's about to get meatier, too, as its campaign DLC, "Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock” is releasing on March 26th.  To help bridge that nine day gap of anticipation, Gearbox has provided us with a nice helping of gameplay footage.  While it may not last us a long time under current conditions, I imagine a combination of watching the below video and playing the core game will be enough to get you through the wait.

The arrival of Borderlands 3 on Steam is well-timed with the impending release of the next bit of paid DLC, titled "Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright and Hammerlock." If you're be hopping into the game for the first time and want to avoid any potential story spoilers, then you've got some time to play through the campaign before the DLC arrives, though it's worth noting that it is not at all required to play through the whole game to access the DLC. Per Gearbox, "When creating a new Vault Hunter you have the option to bypass the opening acts of the Borderlands 3 story and head to Xylourgos right away. Enemies and loot on the all-new ice planet will scale to your Vault Hunter's level." The DLC will be available to purchase individually for $14.99 (same as the first DLC, "Moxxi's Heist of the Handsome Jackpot"), or you can get it and all other DLC via the $50 Season Pass.
