Rather than go through any of the possibilities for what could be in the game, let's talk about the few pieces that came out of all of this that are known. Scott Kester, art director for Borderlands 2 and Battleborn, will return in a similar capacity for the new game and Mikey Neumann, the Chief Creative Champion and voice of the character "Scooter," will be responsible for penning the story. Based on a Facebook post by one of the main concept artists on the team, it sounds like things are still in the planning stages for the new title, though there may be some easter eggs about the game in Battleborn DLC.

Original Borderlands Included in Xbox Live Games with Gold for March

The way Games with Gold works is simple. If you're an Xbox Live Gold member, you get a selection of free games available to download each month. The window to grab the titles is always limited to a few weeks, but that's plenty of time to hit the download button and start playing

Original Borderlands Part of Xbox One Backward Compatibility

Xbox One Backward Compatibility opens up a lot of doors for co-op play. Borderlands will be fully playable on Xbox Live, allowing you and your pals to link up no matter which system you're playing on. Saves can be transferred and used on the Xbox One, as well, so you don't have to feel like that 243 hours you already put into the game will go to waste. And because you can, be sure to take advantage of the game streaming feature so everyone can watch you get wrecked by that tiny skag you can't seem to shoot in the mouth.

Borderlands Multiplayer Servers Return to PS3

GameSpy's closure of its many online servers is what took down the Borderlands multiplayer for good on consoles, including many other games' online as well. Thankfully, PC versions of Borderlands and other titles like Civilizations 3 & 4 were ported over to Steamworks last year to keep at least some of its multiplayer alive somewhere. However, Gearbox, with the help of 22nd Century Toys (a video game engineering specialist), we can finally play Borderlands again online on PS3!

Borderlands Online Play Is Back Thanks to Steamworks

Borderlands saw an update in July, removing the game's SecuRom DRM coding and allowing access to the Granting Tool, which enables players to convert retail versions of the game to digital Steam versions. With the Steamworks server migration now in full effect, this is how you'll access online play. (2K has published a guide on how to use the tool on their blog.)

Borderlands Multiplayer Servers Returning to PC Soon

An upcoming update will be moving all servers over to Steam. Considering the number of players that use the service, this means a lot for co-op gaming. The mass shutdown of GameSpy's server's a little while ago led to Borderlands' multiplayer getting the axe. However, 2K Games stated in April that they would be "investigating the technical feasibility" of bringing Borderlands, as well as Civilization Revolution, over to Steam at some point. Thankfully, it's much sooner than we hoped for!

Online Service Changes coming for Borderlands and Other 2K Titles

In some bad news, both Borderlands and Civilization Revolution for PS3 will indefinitely go offline on May 31st. 2K stated that they are investigating the possibility of transitioning online service of those titles from GameSpy. The games will still maintain their offline functionality, but any online component will be disabled. Many older titles for PC, DS, and Wii are also going offline. Here’s the full list of those games:

Borderlands 2 Creature Slaughter Dome and Collector's Edition Content Now Available

Borderlands 2 content previously exclusive to certain retailers and collector's editions is now available to everyone, for a price. The Creature Slaughter Dome will allow players to compete in a bonus Circle of Slaughter challenge located at the Wildlife Exploitation Reserve. The Circle of Slaughter challenges have been around since the first Borderlands. Players must face waves of progressively more difficult enemies in an enclosed arena. It's basically a survivor mode.

Co-Op Nights: Borderlands Tonight, Borderlands 2 on Oct. 5th

Borderlands 2 will be in our living rooms in just four days. It's time to say farewell to Borderlands, and hello to the new hotness that is Borderlands 2. To do so, we're hosting two co-op nights. It’s been a tough few weeks for me. After losing my job last week, I was having trouble focusing on what I should be doing next with my career. Obviously it’s all about finding my next job, but times are tight and I've been struggling to have things "work out". Luckily, Co-Optimus has been keeping me busy with work while I job hunt. Needless to say, I’ve been doing a bunch of gaming, which has also lead me to falling in love with a series that I had previously chosen to ignore.

Borderlands Figures Coming From Neca

Some iconic Borderlands characters are getting the action figure treatment. Announced some time ago, the ClapTrap and Psycho Bandit action figures are now set to launch in May and June, respectively. These poseable collectibles are being manufactured by NECA, who have also made figures for other co-op games, including Gears of War, Army of Two, and Bulletstorm.
