Catherine Had Atlus' Best Launch Week Ever

Catherine is easily one of the strangest games we've ever covered here at Co-Optimus. It has a story based not on saving the world from aliens or defeating enemy soldiers, but on the intricacies of romance. The gameplay is an odd blend of platforming and puzzling, and takes place in the protagonist's nightmares. Top it all off with the Mature rating, anime style, and a crazy deluxe edition including bozer shorts, a pillowcase, and a pizza box. There has quite literally never been anything like it.

Well, at least I won't be surprised by my nightmares tonight. The above image is taken from one of the two Catherine videos we have for you today. The pseudo-relationship sim/puzzle-platformer is coming out next week. The image is actually from the less disturbing of the two videos. One focuses on the physical package of the game, the other covers gameplay footage. You can decide which one creeps you out more.

Today we have a new trailer for Catherine, the sort-of-sexy yet very intriguing puzzle platformer. The latest trailer has a few snippets of gameplay footage. Catherine looks stunning graphically, and there seems to be a lot more to it than simply a man, some sheep, and giant boobs. (But do you really need anything else?) We recently covered the co-op components of the game, and we are curious to see just how the game will play out. You can expect to see our Co-Op Review in the coming weeks.

Just what the heck is going on up there? Oh, that's just some expertly cropped box art from Catherine, a new game coming out in July. Let's see if we can deduce what this game is about from the above image.... We have some sheep... we have a little Japanese writing (shocker)... looks like some gender symbols... and there's something else... Hmm... A certain je ne sais quoi... That's French for "Dude trapped in giant boobies," right? Because there's definitely a dude trapped in a giant pair of ta-tas up there. Did I mention this game is on the Xbox 360 and PS3? Because it is. I've heard about games like this, but they're usually on the PC, the devil's gaming system. Some of the bachelors on the Co-Optimus staff are insisting this game has co-op, but I don't really think they have a proper handle on the term. Want to know more? Catherine Sets Out To Tingle Your Co-Op Craving

It looks like the survival horror puzzle platformer (try saying that ten-times-fast) simply titled Catherine is going to offer a co-op mode of sorts. Our early reports are pretty vague, but it looks like completing the game will unlock a colosseum mode where you and a friend work together against the forces of the Catherine Universe.
