The game, which features two player local co-op, originally launched on Xbox One way back in 2014. It has since made its way through the platform circuit, with the PC, PlayStations 3 and 4, and Wii U each having a version of the game. Thankfully, though, now those without a "main" platform can also access a fantastic couch co-op experience.

"The Royal Gadget" pack will arrive sometime this month, no date or price has been set, and will allow players to play as the Shopkeeper (he's the skeleton dude with the jaunty hat) as well as have access to all new gadgets. The tools/gadgets, like being able to put a spike in the ground/wall/ceiling and attach the titular chariot to it, in this game make a real difference when solving many of the game's puzzles. I suspect that some of the new gadgets may not only break some of the earliest conundrums, but will also make some later levels a little more manageable.
The rules of the contest are fairly straightforward. Players must record their fastest attempt clearing level 2-5 (The Prismatic Eye) and pass it along to Frima. All submissions must be received before 11:59 PM PDT, March 22nd.
Chariot is the type of local 2 player co-op that Co-Optimus loves and harks back to the days where you and your family would sit side by side and try and tackle trouble:
In Chariot, the Princess and her Fiance are tasked with toting the King's chariot through physics-based puzzles. Local co-op play is still supported on the new Steam version, where Player 2 takes charge of the Princess' fiance. While keyboard and mouse controls are supported, the Steam listing for the game "highly recommends playing Chariot with a controller."
Chariot is out today, but hold out until tomorrow and you will be able to download it for nothing as part of the Games with Gold promotion from Microsoft. The game is available throughout October and is so fresh there is no Co-Optimus review yet, but our preview suggests that it looks like a fun game. The co-op is local because developers Frima Studio feel the game is best played together in the same space.

]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/12306/co-op-adventure-chariot-out-next-week-on-psn.htmlMaking things much less straightforward is the king's ghost who is bound to the chariot. He insists he be buried with massive amounts of riches, so in addition to navigating mazes and just trying to survive the cave, you also have to seek out treasure, coming up with ever more creative ways to get at the loot without losing the king's remains. Sometimes the best game ideas sound like an episode from an '80s sitcom.
