The new co-op feature can be accessed from the Extras menu before starting a game, and in-game after completing the "Call the Cavalry" quest. Upon finishing the quest, players can swap outfits from any storage locker throughout the game world.
Dead Island 2 is a first-person melee-focused action RPG. The game picks up 15 years after the original. A zombie outbreak sets the state of California into chaos. A passenger on an evacuation flight becomes a zombie and starts attacking people, soon causing the flight to crash. Players will choose from six unique characters (all with distinct personalities and abilities) who survived the crash. They'll have to battle their way towards a mansion and fortify it to create a safe house. After doing so, players can join up in online co-op.
This date in question is very likely a simple placeholder date, but even the idea of a 2019 release would be surprising given the lack of information from publisher Deep Silver or its current developer, Sumo Digital. However, with E3 underway, “tis the season” for game-based surprises. Feel free to check out the trailer below for Dead Island 2 while you speculate what this pre-order could mean.
Sumo Digital, the primary developer on LittleBigPlanet 3, is picking up where Yager left off. This comes as somewhat mixed news as this marks the third developer to work on this project. Techland opted out to instead work on Dying Light, Yager and Deep Silver parted when the companies' "respective visions of the project fell out of alignment," and now Sumo is taking the reins. There's a lot of speculation that can be made about a game that's changed hands that many times.

Yager did not state any particular reason for the delay, only that they wish to provide the best experience possible for fans.
PS4 players are certainly getting some extra love, between this and PS4 players getting a fifth extra character class. The only currently known way to have access to the Dead Island 2 beta is to have preordered Escape Dead Island, a spin-off game in the franchise. It's quite a different beast than Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. Hopefully more ways to get into the beta will be announced in the future.

In a recent interview with VG24/7, Isaac Ashdown, senior gameplay producer, let it be known that Dead Island 2 was built with co-op at the core. "One thing we really get from players of the original is how co-op play with friends was a big factor in why they stuck with it," he stated. YAGER, the dev's behind the title, grabbed onto the co-op hook and ran directly into a playground packed to the brim with shambling corpses.

Showing off pre-alpha footage, the trailer is the official gameplay reveal of Dead Island 2, currently in development by YAGER. The game picks up a few months after the events of Dead Island and Escape from Dead Island, following the outbreak on the Banoi Islands. California is under full quarantine, and instead of trying to escape, you're just in it for the thrill.

It should come as no surprise that the trailer contains some blood and gore, but a head's up that you do see some people get mauled by zombies and one guy undergo a full transformation. Also fair warning, the song may get stuck in your head.
