Out this week on PlayStation Vita, Dead Nation brings top-down zombie shooting co-op straight to your pocket. Originally released on PS3, Dead Nation became a fan favorite in the zombie survival and co-op genres. This is one game that's great alone, but even better with a friend.

Dead Nation has received patch 1.08, which, if you own the base game - isn't terribly exciting. But...BUT...if you own the Road to Devastation DLC the patch is going to add a new game mode called Arcade as well as new concept art to unlock.

Sure, that Dead Island game is hot stuff right now. But it's only one island. Dead Nation, on the other hand, is a friggin' country. It plays a bit differently too, being a super-slick twin-stick shooter from the creators of Superstardust HD. What’s more, tons of Playstation 3 owners have the game as it was one of the free games in Sony’s Welcome Back program. What better way to monetize all those free copies than by selling everyone DLC? Hence developer Housemarque has announced an upcoming DLC pack, “Road of Devastation.”

The program is designed to get back in the good graces of gamers who were without PSN for 3 weeks and who may have possibly had their personal information gleaned from Sony's servers.

The multi-award winning Dead Nation just got a little better. A new patch is scheduled to go live Monday, March 7th that enables online voice chat. We gave the zombie twin stick shooter a 4 out of 5 for our Co-Op Review for the high production values and persistent upgrade system. We balked a little at the high difficulty level of the game. Finnish Developer Housemarque addresses this issue in the new patch with checkpoint saves. They also promise "even further surprises for all the Dead Nation players out there!"

Oh look, another zombie game. I'm sure that's what you are thinking. But once you look deeper at Dead Nation you'll realize that its more than your average zombie shooter. We dive deep into the apocalypse and fend off the zombie hordes in our latest review of the PSN exclusive title.
You know what tends to be fairly difficult? Playing co-op online without voice chat capabilities. Without a general Playstation chat capability, Dead Nation is having that very issue - for now. It sounds like the developer was having a bit of trouble getting things perfect for launch, so a sacrifice was made in order to deliver the amazing experience that we've found in Dead Nation.

Dead Nation has been on our radar for awhile now. From the game's announcement over a year ago, to the premiere trailer at E3, this top-down co-op zombie shooter looks fantastic. When we heard that the expected two player local co-op was being upgraded to feature online play, we had to talk to the game's developer to find out what inspired the change. Housemarque CEO, Ilari Kuittinen, gave Co-Optimus an interview explaining the decisions that went into adding online co-op support. Ilari's comments got us even more excited about the coming zombie apocalypse.

Another zombie game is on the horizon, and you can bring a friend for the apocalypse. Dead Nation will be shambling onto the PlayStation Network next Tuesday, November 30th. We liked what we saw in out preview of the game. The lighting, sound, and weapons customization caught out attention.

Joystiq has taken an in-depth look at the newest zombie game, Dead Nation - but they want to make sure we don't confuse it for just another zombie title. Since there are so many co-op zombie titles on the market now (Dead Rising 2, Left 4 Dead, Burn Zombie Burn, Zombie Apocalypse, etc), Dead Nation had to make sure they did things a little different to make sure they stood out. According to the preview we've checked out, it sounds like Housemarque has mixed all of the elements we love in zombie games and made a truly amazing downloadable title.
