The original Destiny launched in 2014 across Xbox One, 360, PS4 and PS3. It was reviewed by our own Nick, Jason and Mike who gave it a 4 out of 5 for both the overall game and co-op. They praised its use as a foundation to be improved upon with Nick saying “You need to examine the potential a game has to see if it's worth your almighty dollar. Destiny is ripe with potential and Bungie has rarely not delivered. The first set of content and changes are already live. But based on what's there now, it might be tough to hold gamers' attentions long enough until it reaches that state.”
]]>Update: Bungie is releasing update 2.4.1 tomorrow (10/18/2016) that will add the heroic version of the new Wrath of the Machine raid, increase the max Light Level to 400, and, more importantly, provide players with a better opportunity to get their LL up from strikes and engrams. Specifically:
To be clear, no formal announcement about "Destiny 2" has been made by Bungie or Activision at this point other than the fact that it is coming sometime in 2017. The Kotaku news post from which this new information stems is based on intel received from sources close to the game's development or who work at Activision. Moving the game to PC seems like a natural progression for the series given that it left last-gen consoles behind with Rise of Iron. Not only would this open up the title to a whole new audience, but we may even see some form of cross-platform play.
Last year's expansion, The Taken King, added an entire new story campaign, a new raid, new gear and exotics, a new patrol area, and more. There were hidden secrets to be found and some great dialogue with Nathan Fillion. Rise of Iron is promising more of the same and the launch trailer is certainly doing its job to get me hyped up for its impending release.
Here's the breakdown of what all you'll get if you drop the $59.99 for The Collection:
The name and some art had been floating around for the past couple weeks, but the game listing page (here's the cached version of it) gave out all the pertinent details for the next big content update (though much of this was speculated already). In addition to new gear, a new light level, and a new raid, Guardians will embark upon new Story missions into the "Plaguelands" of Old Russia to fight off infected Fallen alongside Lord Saladin. This area will include a new social space and a new Strike mission as well.

Here are the big ticket items that will be part of the update:
Bungie stated that this update was included in the purchase of the Taken King, but no news regarding the cost for those that haven't bought it. If you are interested in hearing more from the developers about the updates, check out Bungie's Twitch channel.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/14046/april-update-will-bring-new-content-to-destiny.htmlThe Harbinger of All Things Xbox, Major Nelson, has just revealed the deals for Xbox Gold and Spotlight for this week. And what a sale it is! If you and your posse are in possession of Microsoft's monolithic black console and are also Xbox Live Gold members, you can pick up quite a few winners on the cheap.
The new items spotted thus far are a new shader, a new emblem, a couple new emotes, and a sparrow that is actually pretty cool looking. All of these appear to be rewards from a quest titled "A Tale of Two Guardians," which is tied directly to the refer-a-friend program. YouTuber Arrekz Gaming does a quick highlight of all these items in his recent video post.
Now for most this could feel like a bit of a ripoff since Destiny cost $60 and over $100 if you purchased the DLC. The trend of microtransactions is pretty common for MMOs and a pretty familiar theme in most of Activisions (who published Destiny) games. The one upside to this new update is that the things you can purchase are cosmetic. None of the items that can be bought directly impact the gameplay.
