Drox ain't exactly a pick up and play sort of game. The basics aren't that complicated: soar throughout the cosmos and blow up anybody who disagrees with you. Balancing politics between a ton of rival factions requires a little bit more finesse, however. And don't even get me started on ship upgrades. It might actually be easier to construct your own real life FTL spaceship and blast off looking to sort out a bunch of aliens problems.

Even though I don't play very many of them, I am delighted that "hyper complex space sims," as a genre, exist. There is a dedicated fan base out there who will definitely invest in a product like Masters of Orion, but games of this nature don't necessarily penetrate the market. While Drox Operative launched a year ago, the game has recently gotten an expansion pack called Invasion of the Ancients. Like the original game four player can team up and complete missions together in the game's online co-op. Players can control various ships with their own strengths and weakness, upgrade core components on the ship, hire crews, and explore the galaxy with friends.
Drox Operative, the top down space RPG from Soldak, is getting it's first expansion pack later this summer. Called "Invasion of the Ancients" it'll add new gameplay elements and a new race to the game.

Soldak Entertainment have released a demo for Drox Operative, a space ship combat RPG for the PC. While the game isn't exactly like "Diablo in space," it does remind me of another classic PC game - Star Control. It's a little less twitch based, but there's huge galaxies to explore and lots of ship to ship combat to engage in.

Din's Curse was a completely underrated Action/RPG on the PC. With near infinte amount of players and some truly dynamic core systems, we couldn't help but give it a 4 out of 5 in our review. The two man development crew of it, Soldak Entertainment, is back with new game. Like Din's Curse it's an Action/RPG - unlike it though it's all about space and ship to ship combat. The game is called Drox Operative and we're quite excited about the co-op possibilities of this one.
