Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale was something of a letdown for many action-RPG fans. Apparently it was a sales letdown too. Joystiq reports that the game’s developer, Bedlam Games is shutting down and has already let 90% of its staff go. Typically, when a studio closes its doors, most of the staff gets laid off while a few stay to tie off legal loose ends.

The name Dungeons & Dragons has been synonymous with co-op for many years. Whether it’s the property’s roots as a pen and paper or the numerous video games set in its universe - D&D has had plenty of cooperative elements. Today we look at Daggerdale in hopes of the next great co-op experience.
Loot. Drops. Booty. Bounty. The Goods. Bling. Equipment. GEAR. Whatever you call it Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale looks to have plenty of it. Swords, armor, shields, axes, and helmets. Sadly - there's no pants of holding +10.

The latest trailer for Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale highlights the story elements of the game. Apparently there's an evil tower inside a cave!? Crazy. Mr. Off-the-Shoulder-Tunic up there is Rezlus, "an agent of evil." You have to stop him. Create a character, level up, collect loot. You'll have four classes to choose from. Daggerdale is actually the first part of a three part series. This portion will encompass the first ten levels of character progression, with more to come in the sequels.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. Yup, I said it. Its a game that is often referenced but rarely replicated in the console world. Now it seems only fitting that the inspiration for the Baldur's Gate series has become the basis for the game that's going to replicate Dark Alliance's gameplay style. Understand the paradox? After getting some hands on time with Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale at PAX East, I can confidently say this game feels perfect for fans of the Dark Alliance series, action RPG fans, and people with only $10.

I don’t know about you guys, but I used to enjoy my Friday night get-together with my friends to play a bit of Dungeons and Dragons tabletop style. As we’ve grown older and had jobs and responsibilities, it’s been tougher to get together. We’ve often wondered “Why hasn’t a digital version of this come out for us?” And now our questions have been answered. Dungeons and Dragons: Daggerdale plans to do just that - bring Dungeons and Dragons to us in a digital format this Spring.

Atari have announced a brand new Dungeons and Dragons game for Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, and the PC called Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale. The game is a four player online / two player local co-op title that leans heavily on the action with plenty of RPG-lite elements.
