EDF: World Brothers takes place in a parallel universe in which everything is made up of Minecraft-like blocks called voxels. One day, the various enemy factions from previous EDF games team up and attack Voxel Earth, splitting it up into pieces. Only the EDF can thwart the alien invaders, but they’ll need help to do it. Thankfully, World Brothers features over 100 playable characters to unlock, including EDF classes from previous games and many more. It’s the EDF dream crossover game that fans never knew they needed!

The new Earth Defense Force: World Brothers game may look like a "Minecraft" but it's anything but. The game still maintains the over the top campy action of the series, but layers on thick layers of "videogame." It feels almost like playing a classic game with the fanfare music and sound effects combined with the 8-bit style graphics. Okajima-san said that the team spent weeks in pre-development getting the size of the voxels and the position of the cameras just right to showcase the destruction and scale with the new art style, and it definitely pays off.

EDF members are struggling in isolated countries around the world. By rescuing and gathering those members, you can build your own Earth Defense Force team. Each mission is tackled by a 4-member team that players can mix and match between EDF members to maximize each of their abilities to lay waste on their enemies.
