The new edition brings with it a few tweaks to soothe the pain of an extended delay. New weapons and abilities have been added, along with new monster types and new player attacks like shield throws, summons, and spin attacks. Endless mode has also been added, for those days when you just don't wanna stop slaying. There are also new daily colosseum challenges and potion functionalities to look forward to, as well. And as expected, four player local and online co-op is still supported, so no worries there.

On top of training an army of mindless skeletons, her "Ghost Walk" ability lets her traverse through groups of enemies for a limited time. Since Gauntlet is nothing but a colossal amount of baddies on screen wanting to carve you up, Lilith's Ghost Walk can poof her out some sticky situations.

So what happened? Well mostly the Wizard was a dick. The Warrior went on roid rages. The Valkyrie was blinded by gold lust. And the Elf? He shot the food. But I'll let the stream speak for itself as we conquer the first dungeon, boss and onto the second set of levels.

Magicka developer Arrowhead Game Studios is behind the wheel of Gauntlet 2014, and the team has assured everyone that it will remain faithful to the original. All four character classes are making a comeback, as is four player co-op, which was pretty much the entire reason we played Gauntlet in the first place. That, and our insatiable urge to pick up and eat food that's just sitting on the floor. Ghosts, grunts and demons aren't gonna eat that chicken, so we might as well, since we need food badly and all.

Those that grew up in a world of upright arcade machines will be all too familiar with Gauntlet. The top-down action game let four players crowd around a single screen, each controlling a character class and trying to beat back endless swarms of ghosts, grunts, demons and thieves. Along the way you'd pick up keys to open doors, food and potions to stay alive, and treasure for points. It was a quarter muncher for sure, especially when you throw in four players trying their best not to die.
