In regards to the Xbox 360 games, Torchlight is up first, going free August 1st to 15th before being replaced by Castlevania: Lords of Shadow from August 16th through the 31st. It should be noted that all Xbox 360 games in Games With Gold can be played on Xbox One, but not vice-versa. Unfortunately, neither Xbox 360 game features the co-op we here are such a fan of, and while multiplayer can be found in Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War 4 is the only true co-op title for this month’s games.

The Gears franchise has always been a pretty popular choice when it comes to co-op games around these parts (but is it the MOST popular??), and Gears of War 4 certainly didn't disappoint. Two player drop-in/drop-out online or couch co-op is supported throughout the campaign, and five player online co-op is supported in the Horde 3.0 mode. It's worth noting that the Xbox One version of the game supports combo co-op for Horde (i.e., couch co-op and online co-op can mix), but the PC version doesn't. Gears of War 4 was published by Microsoft Studios and the official announcement video below is per Xbox so both creations are straight out of Microsoft’s own kitchen. In the video, the different enhancements are laid out, but according to VG247 the upgrades are options the player can switch between.

This Horde Variant playlist kicks off today and lasts until 1:00 PM Eastern Tuesday, February 28. In order to get the three unique Swarm Character skins, you have to register for the event over on the official site page. If you don't care about those skins, then you can still enjoy everything else the event has to offer, including the new Feral gear pack, the double Class XP bonus, and the playlist variant itself. The Feral gear pack has just three cards in it, but it also offers an increased chance to earn Epic Skills for the different classes, all for the reasonable price of 400 in-game Credits.

In addition to the new vertical splitscreen, the update that drops today also adds two new maps, Glory and Speyer, to multiplayer, and some various tweaks/improvements. One of the bigger ones for Horde are the changes to mounted turrets, which now do less damage, are less accurate, and have lower ammo reserves. There are a lot of titles on sale here so I definitely recommend perusing the full list. Outside of Gears of War 4, the other standout co-op titles I see here include Forza Horizon 3, Dying Light: The Following - Enhanced Edition, Dragon Age: Inquisition GOTY Edition, and a Master Chief Collection + Halo 5 Bundle. It's worth noting, again, that these deals are only on the digital versions of these games. The physical disc version will go on sale starting this Friday, November 24.
