Past the new bosses, more faces have been added to the game, as well as different items for sale in the shop. This means if you have to wait for your co-op partners to hop back into the happiest battle with you, you can update your face while you wait. Along with these updates tweaks have been made to the damage done in game, but is that really as exciting as new faces?
]]>Happy Wars was originally released for Xbox 360 in October of 2012, with a PC adaption following in 2014, the Xbox One edition in 2015, and a Windows 10 version in 2016. All of those versions, with the exception of the Xbox One, will be coming to an end in December. Per the developers, “No game modes will be available after the game has shut down…” Happy Wars will continue on Xbox One. While the original 360 version of the game shutting down could be disheartening for hardcore fans, the title has had a 6 year run, which is definitely a long time in video game years. Add to that the ability to simply continue playing the game on Xbox One and this shutdown will not likely be the end of the game.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/15503/happy-wars-pc-and-360-to-shut-down-in-2018.htmlStarting way back in 2012 on Xbox Live Arcade, Toylogic's free-to-play title served up chaotic online co-op for up to fifteen players. A few years and many, many battles later, Happy Wars found itself on Steam, and then, the Xbox One. Still, the developers knew that things weren't quite over for The Little Indie Game That Could, and as of December 15th, it'll find itself on Microsoft's premier PC storefront.
The biggest addition to the game is the inclusion of weekly missions, which players can go through to earn additional happy points and other rewards. Weekly challenges are always a good way to add some legs to a game and get players in for at least a couple hours each week (isn't that right, Destiny?) Aside from the weekly missions, there are some new items you can buy and the Happy Lite card packs can now be acquired in bundles of 10 so you don't spend all day opening those things.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/13479/happy-wars-adds-weekly-missions-teases-co-op-challenge.htmlListen. Listen to me. Happy Wars has fifteen player online co-op. Fifteen! Not counting that one time that we were caught up in a Paraguayan turf war, when's the last time you were able to cooperate with that many people towards a common goal? All I'm saying is that you should give it a shot. It'll be out in a couple more days, and it's free. Did I mention that it's free?
While Toylogic has returned again to bring us all another helping of crazy epic battles that will take place on the Xbox One version of Happy Wars, they definitely made a mistake in accidentally releasing the unfinished game to the public a few days ago. What's even worse is that this version has inadvertently prevented players from accessing their Xbox 360 versions of the game, if they wish to go back to play. By playing the unfinished title, Xbox 360 players find that their XBL accounts will not allow their game to work properly. Sadly, at this time, there is no way for players who've already downloaded the Xbox One version to return their Xbox 360 versions back to normal. However, Toylogic is working to remedy the issue and officially release the game in the near future. Happy Wars on Xbox One has yet to receive an official release date, however.
Horses, you say? Why, yes, I did say horses. If your character finds a horse on any of the maps in game, he or she will be able to ride it around. Horses will provide speed boosts as well as give players special abilities they can use while riding them. The League System is a competitive system which will match players against other players. Every season lasts two weeks which will culminate in the rankings being updated. Seasons will also introduce special game modes that span that particular two weeks. This season's special mode is Bounty Hunters. Season 1 lasts until June 11th.
A new game mode, Bounty Hunters, is also included in the update. In this new game mode, teams compete over the total bounties earned, which are acquires by killing enemies, conquering towers, and destroying the enemy’s Big Tower. The Bounty Hunters mode runs until Januray 29th.
Happy Wars is also running two special events for December. The first is a Christmas-themed variant of "Save the King." This variant, called "Save the Santa," will have appropriately holiday-reskinned stages. Players who participate in the variant will get access to exclusive Mage gear, such as the Imperial Hat or Conductor's Cape. "Save the Santa" will also run until December 25th.
Seven of the new achievements focus on using a particular skill or building a certain weapon 50 or 100 times total. The eighth achievement requires that players choose Berserker, Engineer, and Zephyr at least once in Quick Match or Co-Op Match. Upon launching the game, Happy Wars will automatically prompt players to download the update. So if you were looking for some more quests to do in the game, or wanted more achievements to work on, Title Update 10 has you covered.
To this day, there aren’t many free-to-play titles out there that support mass-multiplayer, let alone a full-fledged co-op mode. 6 million players have experience the game thus far, and it will only continue to grow. Co-Optimus would personally like to thank Toylogic and Microsoft Studios for all their hard work in making this a model, free-to-play co-op title on a console, as well as the community as a whole; helping shaping the game to what it is today.
Until September 20th at 11:55 PST, any and all Xbox LIVE gamers will have access to Happy War’s free-to-play content, regardless of Xbox LIVE membership status. A new mode called “Save the King” will also be arriving on the final day of this special event. “Save the King” involves teams having to escort their designated kings into the enemy castles to win matches. However, games can be lost if the castles are destroyed before the escort is accomplished. It’s unfortunate that, after this promotion ends, players will then have to upgrade to Gold Membership to keep playing the game as usual. On the plus side, any levels, unlockables and in-game purchases obtained will be saved until players upgrade.
