The tactical co-op game, with support for up to eight players, has been out since early this year. We checked it out early in release and while things were a little rough around the edges, the game showed promise. Now several months later Insurgency is finally hitting its stride with strong competitive and co-op games modes for all to enjoy.

Insurgency Gets Updated Co-Op Mode in "Molotov Spring" Update

The update includes new weapons, many AI improvements, revisited map scripts and pathways that contain lengthy and challenging levels. We checked out the update briefly and the AI does appear to have improved a bit, but we'll need to dig deeper to see just how much fuel is behind the improvements.

Insurgency - 8 Player Tactical Co-Op Now on Steam

The co-op mode is called "Checkpoint" - in it a team of up to eight players push through a handful of maps capturing different control points. Upon capture there's a random event where you might need to hunker down and defend the control point from waves of enemies. Rinse and repeat until all points are captured within the level.
