When an unprecedented Cataclysm threatens to wipe out all human life on Earth, it’s decided that the best way for our species to survive is to upload our consciousness into machines. A select few are placed into special robots referred to as “Capital Intellects” to help build a new paradise (Eden) where human life can begin again. The rest are uploaded into a giant database maintained by an artificial intelligence, SATCOM, that is waiting for the day to come when humanity can be restored The Cataclysm, however, proves to be more disruptive than anticipated and it corrupts the artificial life left behind, leading to an endless war. In order to break the cycle, the SATCOM finds three Intellects that haven’t been corrupted yet and awakens them so they may track down the keys to Eden.

Honestly after our experience with the game last night, there's not much left to polish. The three player co-op shooter was a blast as we jumped into different mechanical bodies and smashed, shot, and lasered our way through swarms of enemy robots. The standout features include destructible environments, customizable characters, and a good variety of enemy and mission types.

Developer Tuque Games has been focused on creating the "classic feeling of... arcades" as they've been working on Livelock. Players will be able to choose from one of three different "Capital Intellects": Hex, Vanguard, and Catalyst. Each has their own specialties, e.g., Hex is more of a DPS character while Catalyst is focused on support, and working together makes the most out of all of their abilities.

Catalyst has three guns she can use in combat: Forge, Arc, and the Pulse Launcher. The first of those, Forge, is the big one for her class as it appears to apply a debuff on enemies or heal teammates (depending on at whom she's pointing the beam). The Arc looks like a kind of electric/lightning gun while the Pulse Launcher is akin to a grenade launcher. On the ability side of things, she can deploy a drone that stops incoming enemy fire, or she can shoot off a "temporal rift" that groups the enemies up into one spot for a good opportunity to knock them all out at once.

Quiet, diligent and calculated, Vanguard joins the roster of The Few as the tank of the group. Even larger in stature than Hex, Vanguard shows his presence in the battlefield as he navigates the world in an effort to fight for those who can't. Armed with a massive chassis and powerful hammer, he will be able to absorb massive amounts of damage while also being able to crush the rogue Clusters with one fell swoop.  

Despite the announcement trailer being a little cringe inducing with some cliched "game speak," the action does look to be promising. You'll be able to team up with a couple other players, locally or online, to take down the rogue robots. So queue the dubstep music (apparently you have no other choice), and check out the video.
