Capcom Announces Lost Planet 3, No Sign of Co-Op

Incoming Capcom news! Lost Planet 3 was recently revealed. The follow-up to the excellent co-op adventure, Lost Planet 2, has a shiny new trailer you can check out below. I won't go into details on the video here. You can see all the ice, snow, and Akrids for yourself. I will say that the trailer has a very single player vibe, and from the details given at Capcom-Unity, the game apparently follows suit.

Capcom's flop of a third person shooter, Lost Planet 2, is for sale for only $9.99 at Amazon.com. Why should you care? Because the game is awesome, especially in co-op. LP2 got some low review scores when it came out in May of this year, mainly because of the difficulty level and the necessity of relying on poor AI if you were playing single player. We gave it a co-op score of 4 out of 5 in our review, because we know better than those other guys. Capcom even patched some of the difficulty problems, and you don't need to worry about bad AI if you have some co-op buddies. Lost Planet 2 Coming to PCs on October 15th with 3D Support

Capcom have announced a PC version of Lost Planet 2 is on the way and will be out this Fall on October 15th. The port of the popular four player co-op console game will be getting a few new bells and whistles - namely upgraded graphics and 3D support. In fact, Capcom has partnered with NVidia to create a Lost Planet 2 benchmark utilizing new assets from the game to measure your graphics card performance - it's out now and you can download it here.

Joining the downloadable "Post Modern" outfit is a new cooperative mode called Rush Arena, which pits up to four players against every boss in the game in succession.

Lost Planet 2 Patch Addresses Player Concerns

Lost Planet 2 is a fine experience in most respects; as our review points out, it has some epic monster-munching moments that are truly memorable. But there are also some things about the game that will have you tearing your hair out in frustration. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is the awkward checkpoint/respawn system. Many times, we'd fight our way to a giant Akrid, die horribly, and respawn not at the beginning of the Akrid fight, but several maps previous. It's terribly frustrating, and makes the game artificially difficult, especially when you consider how brainless your AI allies are most of the time. These two needs are being addressed in a patch, available today on PSN and soon for Xbox 360 users.
