The Co-Op Challenge Mode Is Back In Mario Tennis Aces

The latest entry in Nintendo's classic tennis franchise came out in June of last year, and the developers have been maintaining a steady schedule of updates ever since. Update 3.0, which arrived April 15th, has permanently added the "Ring Shot" mode as well as an update to the appropriately titled "Yoshi's Ring Shot" co-op challenge. "Ring Shot" challenges players to volley shots back through a series of rings and get as high of a score as possible within a certain time limit. The co-op version, which is available until June 1st, is largely similar, with the exception being that four times as many points are awarded for volleying through rings of the same color as your specific Yoshi.

Mario Tennis Aces Gets Three New Characters In Early 2019

Two such characters, Petey Piranha and Shy Guy, will be available in the game's online tournament in December and subsequently free to use in January. Nintendo recently announced the next three characters, Pauline, Boom Boom, and Luma, will arrive in early 2019 through a similar format of an online tournament followed by wider availability.

Limited Time Co-Op Challenge Available in Mario Tennis Aces

With the implementation of the Nintendo Switch Online Service today, you will need an active subscription to play this new co-op challenge with friends over the Internet. Fortunately, you can also play locally with four friends provided every one has their own Joy-Con as the challenge uses the "Swing Mode" mechanics where you swing the Joy-Con like a tennis racket.
