It wasn't long ago we told you that all paths were cleared, and MechWarrior 4 would be released for free via the interwebs. The time is now to fire up those Jenner and Mongoose and get ready to do battle. MekTek has the download, which actually hit over the weekend, but servers were hammered so hard it completely brought the site to its knees.

A few weeks back we told you how the re-release of MechWarrior 4 was in legal limbo, and MekTek had pleaded with the internet to help out to some degree. It appears the plea was enough, as Microsoft has given the green light for the game's re-release.

Last summer we announced a new MechWarrior title was in the works from Jordan Weisman, one of the original creator's of the BattleTech universe in which the MechWarrior titles are based. The game was being developed by Pirahana Games with a planned four player co-op campaign.
