Crossplay And A New Expansion Coming To Minecraft Dungeons

One way to keep that player base lively is to combine the game's separate communities into one, and that's exactly what's happening to Minecraft Dungeons. Come November, crossplay will be added for each version of the game, meaning PC and console players can finally come together to smash monsters and hoard their belongings. No word yet on what part of the month this will happen, but even at the latest, it's not far off at all.

Minecraft Dungeons Is Getting Its First DLC In July

To satiate this never-ending thirst for content, Minecraft Dungeons is getting its first chunk of paid DLC in July. "Jungle Awakens" will place players directly in the heat and sweat of a dangerous jungle with three new missions to conquer. Naturally, the jungle biome contains its own unique weapons, armors, and artifacts, which players will need to conquer its dangerous new foes.

Minecraft Dungeons Co-Op Stream Recap and Impressions

We dove into the $20 title last night in our regular Twitch Stream to see just what the game offers. Make no mistake, this isn't a Diablo clone by any means, but what Minecraft Dungeons does is takes bits and pieces of that formula and applies it in a way that's much more consumable by the masses. Instead of a giant interwoven campaign players choose individual dungeons to tackle with various levels of difficulty each yielding better and better loot. Once complete it back to the hub world to re-arm and dive back in.

Minecraft Dungeons is a true departure from the Minecraft formula established in the original game. Where Minecraft set the standard for world-building games, Minecraft Dungeons is Mojang’s interpretation of an ARPG as they look to change how combat works with teams of players and the loot players will be using. While little and less has been said about what will be seen in the game when Minecraft Dungeons launches, the video below shows what appear to be lots of co-op spread throughout as well as unfamiliar Minecraft weapons (3:12 mark) and the developer’s drive to expand Minecraft from a sole game to a universe spanning across different genres - something rarely seen in games without even a single sequel.
