The big update last November removed all of the PvP/MOBA style elements from the game and returned the title to its PvE killing orcs roots. For a time, the only two modes available to play were the classic Survival (build traps and fight off a fixed number of orcs) and Endless modes (go until the orcs beat you). There was still a roster of heroes with different stats and abilities from which you could choose and unlock using either in-game currency earned by playing, or the premium currency, but they no longer rotated out. Since that big shift, a PvP mode (Sabotage) has been added back into the game, as well as a new mode, Chaos Rifts, that provide seasoned players with a little extra challenge. As a platform for delivering more Orcs Must Die! content, it mostly works and is a pretty fun way to get some orc-killing action.

One part of the changes we weren't quite ready for was a drop in co-op count, from five to three players. While it's a bit disappointing in the fact that more of your friends won't be able to play together, the experience feels a bit tighter and more controlled. We checked out three levels of the game, which you can check out the recaps below. 

The first thing that's immediately apparent is the game sports A TON of characters now with a bunch of different abilities as well as unique traps. But this being a F2P title, you don't have access to everything. Characters are on a rotation and traps must be bought or crafted other than the initial starter deck. You can of course purchase gold which can be used to buy anything, or purchase DLC which unlocks heroes - or you can take the poor mans route and grind out materials to craft anything in the game including unlimited access to heroes.

Their latest entry just underwent a few changes via Patch 2.4, including some additional content for us co-op fiends.  A brand new hero named Oziel has joined the ranks of the greenskin slayers, and with him comes the ability to steal the very life essence of his tusked assailants.  Unlike traditional "lifesteal" characters, Oziel instead channels this life force into his mana pool, which subsequently affects his active abilities.  Check him out in action here:
