We originally reported on Overkill’s The Walking Dead back in 2015 after the initial announcement, but when the game finally saw the light of day in November of 2018, it was met with a lot of mixed reviews. The title did not do well commercially and the subsequent “reconstruction” filing by Starbreeze lead to serious questions about the game and whether or not the announced Xbox One and Playstation 4 editions would ever be brought to life. The flurry of activity last week between Sony and publisher 505 Games made it even more questionable, but now, with Skybound officially weighing in, it seems the title is no more. The console versions are officially cancelled and Valve is currently "finalizing its strategy for how to handle the sale of the PC version of the game on Steam” (UPDATE: it is now delisted from that marketplace) all to finally lay this game to rest (sorry).
]]>The first mission actually plays a bit like a round of Call of Duty's Nazi Zombie mode, where defense building and teamwork are crucial for success. It's honestly nothing to write home about, mostly because you are given weak guns against overwhelming odds and its as frustrating as it is unfun.

Players who purchase the game’s standard edition will receive a single closed beta invite, while deluxe edition pre-orders will receive four closed beta keys to share with friends. Additional closed beta details will be shared with the community soon.
As expected, there are hordes of zombies to slay with your friends - but perhaps what wasn't expected - is the more tactical approach to killing them versus something like Left 4 Dead, where things are a bit more arcade like. Watch the trailer for yourself and let us know what you think.
The game will feature four player online co-op throughout the main campaign. Each player will assume the role of one of four playable characters (the first, Aidan, is shown off in the new trailer) and each one will have his/her own unique abilities and progression via a skill tree. In a way, this doesn't sound too dissimilar to the different classes (Mastermind, Enforcer, Ghost, Technician, and Fugitive) from PAYDAY 2.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/15386/new-trailer-and-details-for-overkill-s-the-walking-dead-shows.htmlFor a title with so few details, it's been pushed back quite a bit over the years. It was initially announced in 2014 with a planned release window of 2016, but once that wasn't looking likely, publisher Starbreeze moved the window to the second half of this year. Smash cut to now, and all of a sudden it seems very fortunate that the IP in question is as massive as TWD. Otherwise, interest would possibly be dwindling at a rapid pace.
