Beautiful Platformer 'Pid' Is Beaming Onto Switch on November 18

Pid tells the story of a boy who falls asleep on a bus and gets dropped off on an alien planet. There, he meets all manner of strange residents and dangers as he searches for a way to get back home. The hero (and his companion, Aubrey, when playing co-op) soon gains the ability to throw beams of light. Going through these beams will allow the kid to hover briefly, allowing him to reach new heights in the game's increasingly precarious environments.

Modern gamers are soft. Back on the ZX Spectrum the concept of saving did not exist, you had to complete Jet Set Willy in one go - man up! Modern gamers expect a save point every few seconds just in case they die, boohoo. Pid is a local 2 player co-op game that was hard to begin wit h, but even harder when the save files did not always work on the 360. Now that is too tough, so a patch has arrived.

New Challenge Levels Released for Physics Platformer Pid

To celebrate nabbing the Innovative Newcomer Award at a ceremony organized by the European Innovative Games Award in Frankfurt, Germany, Pid developer Might and Delight has announced the release of 72 new levels for the Windows and Mac versions of the gravity beam platform game. These "Challenge Rooms" get right down to business and create some absolutely harrowing situations, most of which involve split-second timing and really sharp objects.

PC Version of Pid Get its Difficulty Issues Ironed Out

Pid is a game I so badly wanted to love, only to eventually call it the most disappointing game of the year in our Co-Op review. The game just turned out so frustratingly difficult that playing it felt only slightly better than putting your groin in a vice grip and spinning the handle, to say nothing of the horrible collectible system. Well, developer Might & Delight has taken the widespread criticism to heart and released a major patch for Pid's PC version that smoothes out the default difficulty as well as adding a new Easy mode. We've got a few exclusive details on those tweaks to share with you today.

Celebrate Pid's Release with a Launch Trailer and Deluxe PC Edition

One of this week's Xbox Live Arcade releases, Blood Knights, has been mysteriously delayed at the last minute. Thankfully Might & Delight's puzzle platformer Pid is actually available now for XBLA, PSN, and Steam. I picked it up on XBLA, but the developer is now offering a special deal on the computer version that's definitely worth a look.

Pid Coming to XBLA and Steam October 31st

Pid was announced way back in 2011, but it didn't appear on many players' radars (including my own) until E3. After seeing the game in action and speaking to the developers at Might & Delight (many of whom worked on Bionic Commando Rearmed), it quickly became clear that Pid is the 2.5D platformer to watch this year. Lovely BCR-esque graphics, unique gameplay mechanics (you throw beams of light that thrust your character through the air), challenging old-school design, and 2-player local co-op could all help make this game a new classic. We'll find out on Halloween, when Pid launches on both XBLA and Steam. PSN users will have to wait a bit longer, as that version doesn't have a release date yet - a reverse Retro City Rampage situation.

At Last, Co-Op Footage and Screens of Mighty and Delightful Platformer Pid

We've known that Pid, the 2.5D platformer from Might & Delight would feature 2 player local co-op since first catching wind of the game. But only the single-player mode was on display at E3, so we didn't get to see or try out co-op for ourselves. Thankfully the developers have finally published a co-op-specific video and screenshots that demonstrate just how 2-player works. The trailer features catchy music as always, though no hand-drawn animation this time around.

Pid's Crook Boss Comes to Life in Animated and In-Game Forms

Since showcasing Pid at E3, developer Might & Delight has released a steady stream of trailers and screenshots to build up new hype. The latest trailer focuses on a screen-filling boss called The Crook, who we first glimpsed in a screenshot way back in December. Each Pid trailer does things differently from the last, though - 'The Hold-up Hustle' one actually starts with a hand-drawn cartoon before switching to actual gameplay. Don't worry, you'll still catch a new snippet of the game's wonderful soundtrack as well.

Pid's Butler Theme Music is Retro Amazing

Might & Delight's previous Pid trailer certainly wowed me with its fantastic music. As it turns out, the game's soundtrack comes from a group called Retro Family (who sound quite similar to The Minibosses). The latest video coming from Might & Delight eschews gameplay footage in favor of showing Retro Family in action. The song will accompany a battle with one of Pid's gigantic bosses, The Butler. Don't worry, we've got new screens of The Butler to show you as well.

New Pid Trailer May Just Have the Best Music Ever

Pid was one of the best surprises of E3 for me. I knew I had to check it out due to the pedigree of its developers Might & Delight, whose members previously made the sublime Bionic Commando Rearmed (a personal favorite). As it turns out, Pid shares quite a lot of DNA with its spiritual predecessor - from the retro-chic 2D visuals to its own quirky platforming gimmick. The new 'Operation Tango' trailer shows off those things and more, including some absolutely beautiful music. You must hear it.
