As with all previous Backwards Compatible titles, if you already own the title, you'll be able to download it to your Xbox One and play it once Friday rolls around. If you don't own it, then you can purchase it through the Xbox Store for just $10.49 ($7.49 if you're a Gold member).

Week one of the sale kicked off yesterday, and will run until next Monday, October 27th. These are the co-op offerings for this week:
Back in the days of the ZX Spectrum I used to buy huge collections of game called things like '15 Massive Hits for £10'. On November 6th Rockstar are bringing back this tradition, but for $59.99, by bundling several of their games together and selling them at one price. Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 will house the co-op friendly Red Dead Redemption, but also Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition and L.A. Noire.

Christian Cantamessa, co-writer/designer of several Rockstar games (including Manhunt, Manhunt 2, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Co-Optimus community favorite Red Dead Redemption) has signed on to direct a post-apocalyptic film - which he also co-wrote - with a very original sounding premise.

Don't own a copy of Red Dead Redemption yet? Firstly, why not, its one of the best games this generation. Secondly, fear not, as Rockstar Games have just announced the release date for the rumored Game of the Year edition; Oct 11th in the US and Oct 14th elsewhere. The pack will contain the original game as well as all the paid and free DLC.

It's been a long time since I last visited New Austin. Red Dead Redemption's take on the American Western was one of gaming's highlights last year. It appears Rockstar would like to give those of you who missed out a chance to cowboy up and hit the open trail. The keen eyes over at Eurogamer spotted a Red Dead Redemption: Game of the a Year edition at the BBFC. For those of you who don't know your European ratings board acronyms, (or are too lazy to use Google) that's the British Board of Film Classification. The RDR: GOTY edition is said to have the Undead Nightmare DLC, but it's unknown if the other DLC's will be included.

Our next Xbox Live co-op night is upon us and we're headed to the Old West to take on gangs, bandits, and of course jackelopes. Yes, the game of choice is Red Dead Redemption, and we'll be gathering a posse together to take on the bandit hideouts, hunting challenges, and tackle co-op missions.
After the slew of DLC releases in rapid succession for Red Dead Redemption, there were a few issues that piled up. It looks like an update is now live to fix little things like being able to play with people in Japan, and not having to restart every time you switch from single player to multi-player.

It's the most wonderful time of the year, or so the song says. Many staffers here at Co-Optimus are busy with finals, family, and the typical holiday chaos that runs rampant in late December. Red Dead Redemption made a killing at the Spike TV Video Game Awards last night, bringing home the prizes for Best Original Score, Best DLC (Undead Nightmare), and Game of the Year. As insignificant as that may be to a lot of gamers, it sends a clear message to the industry: co-op is teh good. Awards won by Halo: Reach, Call of Duty: Black Ops, DJ Hero 2, Rock Band 3, and a special mention of Portal 2 all served the same purpose. Co-op is loud; co-op is proud.
