New Spotlight Pass Incoming for Rock Band 4

The songs included in Spotlight Season 2's season pass will be the new ones released for the game's Rivals Mode challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with this challenge mode, each week three tracks are selected as Spotlight Songs: two tracks players already own and one newly released DLC track, tied together with a theme. Over a series of eight weeks, eight new DLC songs will be released. These can be purchased a la carte for $2, or in one fell swoop with the Spotlight Pass for $13.49. That means a 15% (or $2.50) discount, with the downside being that the songs won't be known until the week of their release.

Rock Band 4 Post-Launch Song List Approaching 200

Two more songs - Disturbed's cover of "The Sound of Silence" and Fitz and the Tantrums "HandClap" - are getting added this week, leaving the game just 25 songs shy of the 200 mark. Given that they have been adding about 10 to 12 new songs each month, it looks like the developer will hit that 200 mark by December. All of these songs can be purchased for $1.99 each, and the "Ozzefest Meets Knotfest" songs can be bought as a bundle for $5.49.

PS4 Rock Band 4 Players Now Able to Export Rock Band 1 Tracks

Not all of the tracks from Rock Band 1 were able to make the trip. "Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden must be repurchased through the Rock Band 4 store, while "Paranoid” by Black Sabbath, and "Enter Sandman” by Metallica cannot be exported or purchased. "Blood Doll" by Anarchy Club, "Pleasure (Pleasure)" by Bang Camaro, "Can't Let Go" by Death of the Cool, "Brainpower" by Freezepop, "I Get By" by Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives, "Day Late, Dollar Short" by the Acro-brats, "Outside" by Tribe, and "Seven" by Vagiant are also unavailable at this time, but they are expected to make the transition at some point in the future. We are still waiting to play Rock Band 2, Green Day: Rock Band, and Lego Rock Band which have also been promised. Xbox One players already have access to Green Day: Rock Band.

What makes a Rock Band or Guitar Hero title? The songs included in the game, without a doubt. Luckily, we know of a few more that we can relay to the community. As an update to our previous article regarding confirmed songs, we've received word of a few more to appear on Rock Band 4 (on disc). While the feature was bundled with previous series entries like The Beatles Rock Band and Rock Band 3, vocal harmonies weren't 100-percent confirmed for inclusion in Rock Band 4. Early speculation hinted that the feature might be dropped along with keyboard support, in a bid to return the series to its roots.

Notably, Rock Band 4 will support more than 2,000 DLC tracks released for previous series entries over the last several years. While all DLC tracks will not be available for Rock Band 4 initially, Harmonix plans to roll out batches of legacy DLC in the weeks after the game's launch.
