Klei's follow-up to the original title was a little disappointing as the co-op campaign feature from the first was removed in favor of a co-op survival mode. That said, the game has a lot of style and is worth a play through again if you already own it.

Klei Entertainment's Shank 2 is all about guns, blood, revenge, and more of the above. The brawler lets you murder your way through countless nameless thugs with several interludes for light platforming action and boss vanquishing. It's a straightforward formula punctuated by its fantastic visual style and over-the-top animation sequences.

If you didn't get enough stabbing, killing, and blood from our Shank 2 Review, the nice developers from Klei are tossing you another weapon to add to your arsenal. A short comic has been made that outlines the breif events between Shank and Shank 2, featuring the art of Jeff Agala and Vangelis Christou. We can all agree that the art style of the Shank games is absolutely stunning and is perfectly suited for the comic book medium.

If you’re not familiar with the original, Shank 2 is a 2-D character action game that relies on guns, blood, and revenge to get the message across. It comes out at a time where there is a lack of stylistic action games, but is both a blessing and a curse, as it suffers from going too heavy on the style and not providing you with enough of a game.

In case you haven't heard, Shank 2 is coming to the XBLA, PSN, and PC this week. The violent, stylized 2D brawler offers gamers a cooperative survival mode. While it's no co-op campaign, it looks like it will have more substance than your simple wave-based yawn-fest. Shank 2's survival mode will offer unlockable outfits and upgrades at the waves progress, which is better than a swift kick in the junk.

EA has just announced that Klei's upcoming downloadable game, Shank 2, will be available on PlayStation Network and PC on February 7th and on Xbox Live Arcade on February 8th. The hand drawn beat em up is a sequel to last year's Shank, a game which featured a two player co-op story mode. For Shank 2, Klei has gone back to the drawing board, and created a brand new survival co-op mode.

Co-optimus really enjoyed the recent 2D platformer Rayman Origins, but it lacked a certain something; ultraviolence. I did not grow up on a diet of video nasties and shocking images just to play a game a child could watch. I want blood, guts, chainsaws and viscera. Thankfully, as this new gameplay video shows, Shank 2 will provide all my grue based needs.

At a recent EA event in NYC I got to go hands on with Shank 2 and it's new survival based co-op mode. While the first Shank offered a short co-op campaign, developer Klei wanted to make something that had a bit more legs and replayability. Alongside creating this brand new co-op mode with a bunch of different characters to choose from, rather than just two like the first game, the team managed to add online co-op to the mix.

Shank was one of those games you really really wanted to like...and you did, but certain aspects of it just kept frustrating you. Our own review points to that numerous times - the biggest culprit being - some control issues. Well, the game is getting a sequel called Shank 2, and like any good sequel it's getting a bunch of tweaks thanks to fan feedback.
