... Wait, sorry, my editor just handed me a note that says "SMITE is also available on PlayStation 4 and that version doesn't support any kind of cross-play/progression."
]]>Starting with version 5.2, a new, limited-time event will be running for players who, like you and I, enjoy a bit of cooperative gaming. It's called "Da Ji and the Legend of the Foxes", and it sports both a unique cel-shaded art style and a brand new horde mode. Check out the trailer below:
It's pretty amazing/impressive that a studio can crank out new modes/content like this for a title that, ostensibly, is geared around its 5v5 PvP mode. This isn't the first time they've done this, either, and while their "Adventures" aren't always co-op in nature, it's cool that there are some different things that are tossed in to attract folks into the game.
"Shadows Over Hercopolis" is added to the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 versions of the game with the 4.21 patch today. The setup appears to be that Loki has kidnapped Hercules so it's up to your merry band of gods to battle through Loki's dungeon and rescue the son of Zeus. There will be lesser enemies to fight, puzzles to solve, and huge bosses with multiple stages that require significant teamwork to overcome. Beating a boss rewards your group with some sweet loot that will power you up so you can face even greater evils. It supports up to three players to team up online - each using their god of choice - and will be available until patch 4.24, which likely will drop sometime in December. More info can be found over on the SMITE website.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/15327/new-limited-time-co-op-event-arrives-for-smite.htmlThere are a total of 15 challenges that you can face in this new mode and a random one gets selected each round, so it's quite possible you'll get served up the same challenge the more rounds you complete. Every player starts at level 13 with 7500 gold, and that's it. Your health, mana, and cooldowns are reset between rounds, but you won't earn anymore experience or gold so be sure to spend it wisely. The mode draws its inspirations from "MMO-style boss encounters and wave-based survival modes," and it definitely shows. If your team makes it through five rounds, then you'll earn a chest for their limited time event (Odyssey 2017) that's currently underway. Make it through 25 rounds and you'll earn an exclusive avatar for your account.
Terra's falls within the Guardian category of gods, meaning she has low damage, high health, and a fair number of support abilities; those abilities are rather interesting, to be sure. Her main ability, Force of Nature, allows her to charge forward and deal damage to any enemies she hits. However, the primary purpose of this isn't to run at a foe and start attacking them, but to use it in conjunction with her other two abilities: Crushing Earth and Monolith.
The Co-Opticrew dove in head first to PC version the other night, checking out some of the new Gods that have been added recently. The great thing about SMITE is you'll get access to all current gods, past, present and future by purchasing their Ultimate God Pack. And with a roster of 70 plus and growing there's plenty to choose from and enjoy.
For console players, the game is currently locked to just 30 FPS. It looks nice, but getting that extra little bit out of it can make a nice game look great. Along with his tweet, Scott posted a YouTube video of the title running at the new framerate.
The title will still be free-to-play on the PS4, with a cycling roster of five gods (out of 70) from which players can choose to play. Similar to the PC and Xbox One versions, players will have the option of buying the "Founder's Pack," which unlocks all current and future gods, for $29.99. It's not a bad deal if you like the game as it guarantees you access to any/all new characters that are released later on. In addition to that, picking up the pack will get you access to the closed beta when it launches.
The game supports co-op across all game modes, some of which are different than your typical MOBA. For instance, in the arena players try to get their creeps into an opposing portal to score points while battling against other gods and random monsters for buffs.
Smite is a popular MOBA that allows up to 5 players online to join forces and take on the enemy. The merging of your PC save with that of the One is a great way of allowing veteran players of the game to continue their journey. More information on this process is available on the game's FAQs.
