Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for Wii U was originally slated to release on November 18th, one week after the 3DS version of the game, Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal. Now, SEGA has announced that both games will be available in North America November 11, with the UK versions dashing in just ten days later. Co-op is limited to two local players, but with the focus on speed and exploration, that's probably a good thing.

Actually, Sonic Boom is a pair of games, one for Wii U and one for 3DS, with slight interface and graphical changes to accommodate the smaller screens. The portable version is Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal and will hit the U.S. market on November 11 and the UK November 21. Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric for Wii U is out a week later in the U.S. but the same day in the UK. Why? Because Sonic is just that fast.

A team-up of Sega, Big Red Button, and Sanzaru revealed in a New York press event the latest installment in the Sonic franchise, Sonic Boom. Players will be able to take control over Sonic and his traditional crew of characters: Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose, as they explore an ancient land never seen before. Much like other games in the series, each one will have their own unique set of skills and attributes, such as Amy Rose with her Piko Piko Hammer weapon or Knuckles with his new found physicality. Using their abilities together as a team, players will need to work together to traverse the lush, but mysterious land presented to them.
