Holy cow! DLC has launched for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. I'm as surprised as you are. The game wasn't exactly a roaring success, but it does have a few charming quirks. Map Pack 1 quietly hit Xbox Live on July 3rd. It offers two cooperative missions for 240 MSP ($3). I rarely pass up the opportunity to throw money away, so I powered up my Kinect, moved some furniture, and took my Vertical Tank for a spin in new territory.

Did you hear that the new Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor game came out? The mech simulator has picked up some pretty harsh reviews. I'm eight missions into the game after one evening, and apparently that makes me the Crown Prince of Gamer Masochism. I can say, without a doubt, it's the best motion controlled mech game I have ever played.

I have played the Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor demo, and it's... different. The mech game requires the use of both a controller and the Xbox 360's Kinect sensor. I've been curious about the title since it was announced back in 2010, even more so when a four player co-op mode was revealed last month. Do the Kinect and 360 controller play well together? Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, the Kinect-exclusive followup to Capcom's classic mech simulator, won't be released until June. But gamers now have some incentive to order it straight away, thanks to three retailer-specific preorder bonuses. Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop are all offering unique armor sets with which to deck out your mechs. Capcom has even gone the extra mile to aid players in their purchasing decisions, creating trailers for each armor and explaining their functions.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is the follow up to Steel Battalion, a mech sim best known for its ridiculous controller peripheral. It was announced way back in 2010. We haven't covered it because Capcom claimed the game did not have co-op. A Microsoft rep demoing the game even denied co-op support at last weekend's PAX East. I guess things can change in a few days. It turns out SB: HA will support four player online co-op. Great. Now I have to attempt to bring the community (myself included) up to speed.
