If you own a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can now purchase and download the game. It includes all content from the recently released Rage of Demons DLC, which lets you team up with Drizzt Do'Urden for some adventures in the Underdark, as well as all of the other content that's been added up to this point, such as being able to play as a drow or tiefling.

The main focus of this content is a new story campaign that lets your party fight alongside the legendary drow, Drizzt Do'Urden. Alongside the campaign comes a new playable race, Tiefling, and a new playable class, warlock. For those of you interested in designing your campaign and DMing it, then a slew of new dungeon and town areas, creatures, and tilesets have been added for the DM Mode.

While the game does offer a full co-op campaign for up to four players, the main appeal of Sword Coast Legends is the "DM Mode," where one player acts as the Dungeon Master and four others are the adventuring heroes. This mode allows the DM to create his or her own module, including story, NPCs, dungeons, and monster groups, and then guide the players through it, similar to how a real-life game of D&D might go.

Starting last Thursday, the roles of Tom, Dick, and Harry were assumed by a... trio of, well, let's just say that to call them anything beside "horrors from the ethereal realms of the old gods" is pretty kind.  Taylor, myself, and Matt (a.k.a RaynerRules, for those hanging out in the Shrimpers Forever chat) decided to guide the unlikely grouping of Grendy Smarphtickle, Juice Boy, and Heckers through the dangers of the Sword Coast.  The degree of success is up to debate.

The DM is capable of adjusting just about anything in the world, telling a carefully crafted story to the players of their choosing and asking players to roll to decide certain in game events. Player driven content is going to be a huge piece of Sword Coast Legends alongside it's meaty single player campaign making this one of the largest games content-wise we've likely ever seen. 

I hit up IMDb to see if I knew who either of these people, Olivia Vinall and Joshua McGuire, are. I kinda recognize Olivia from an episode of "Doctor Who," but no idea about Josh. Regardless, they both sound really great for the characters they voice, Illydia Maethellyn and Hommet Shaw, respectively.

As a part of their "Head Start" program, n-Space will open the game up to all pre-order PC players this weekend starting today (9/25) at 2:00 PM EST and ending at midnight on Sunday, 9/27. While you won't be able to play the game in its entirety, you will have access to the character creator, DM Mode, Campaign Creation, and Dungeon Crawl. I've never player a full on tabletop RPG but my interest in them has grown over the past few years. Went so far as to try and start a game with friends from across the country using Skype and a site to facilitate discussion/visualization, though schedules made it hard to maintain. So, having pored over my Players' Handbook and Monster Guide, I am looking forward to seeing these creatures in action.
