The new mode is called "Point Capture" and allows up to eight players to team up in order to capture and defend a series of resource points. Each point that is successfully captured ramps up the difficulty, so be prepared for a fight. If you can't quite muster up the forces for this mode then don't worry; you can now bring A.I. bots with you into missions to help fill out the ranks a bit. These bots can be given instructions or taken over at any time for better control.
]]>The game is brutally difficult, but also extremely satisfying and replayable. It's enjoyed a nice evolution since we first looked at it sometime ago. Here's our latest take on the final build with explanations of the classes, components, upgrades, and how to survive. Not that we survive very well.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/13342/watch-us-cooperatively-die-over-and-over-again-in-the-red-solstice.htmlAs I mentioned for one of their previous updates, Red Solstice's universe is straight up terrifying, and the folks at Ironward are working their hardest to make sure it stays that way. As you brave the inevitable dangers of space, you'll be assuming the role of one of eight different classes. Ironward just released a couple quick videos to give new players a sense of what two of the game's classes are capable of, and how they should be utilized.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/13301/get-acquainted-with-a-couple-red-solstice-classes-before-its-july-9th-release.htmlWith the release of the latest update, Ironward edges their game ever closer to a full release out of Steam's Early Access program, and it's looking pretty solid content-wise. Hot off the presses comes a new industrial themed map which aims to provide players with a good reason to comply with workplace safety laws. Also, monsters on the map move 10% faster, presumably because their bosses have threatened to lay them off if marine-slaughtering numbers don't increase by the next fiscal quarter.
If you're curious as to what's so terrifying about the update, just check out the trailer:
There's actually been two rather large updates since we last streamed the game. The team has been hard at work improving the 8 player co-op action game, one in which players need to work together to survive, complete missions, and escape a base on Mars. Female marines have been added, with new voice over dialogue and slightly tweaked player models. The game has also added a boss encounter that promises to be extremely difficult. Finally other than a whole host of tweaks, fixes and balances - there are new achievements to be earned.
]]> https://www.co-optimus.com/article/12090/the-red-solstice-adds-female-marines-private-lobbies-and-more.htmlWe discovered that The Red Solstice is an incredibly deep game, with mission style progression as well as an overall progression of your character. While mid mission you can unlock and upgrade skills, your overall character can unlock new weapons, buffs, and other items for playing multiple missions.
The Red Solstice has been in development for several years, with most of the development being funded by Polish studio Ironward itself. They're currently seeking a goal of $50,000 on Kickstarter to move from Red Solstice's current alpha version through the steps to a polished release-ready version. In addition, they will also use the funding to include additional content for the game. In the event they exceed their goal, Ironward also has plans to add "an epic single-player campaign," Mac/iOS/Linux support, more gameplay modes, and bigger, badder monsters.

That red planet that floats around with stone faces in the sand, secret alien cities beneath the surface, and a curious little rover scooping up bits of soil. Also, Ironward Game's upcoming tactical survival game takes place there! The studio is currently hard at work on The Red Solstice, a co-op game that supports up to eight players who must work together in order to survive the harsh Martian climate.
