While the main goal for you and your band of survivors is to survive the Alaskan wilderness, everything may not be as it seems. Why did your plane crash in the first place, for instance? Where does that half-buried door in the snow lead? With the "Beyond the Door" update, you can start getting some answers. New quests, a new area to explore, a new fast travel system, and new skills/abilities for the characters have all been added.
]]>The basic idea behind The Wild Eight is to stay alive. Eight people survived a mysterious plane crash in the snowy Alaskan wilderness. Now they have to gather food, water, wood and supplies and try to keep on keepin' on. Exploration, hunting, and crafting are all part of the experience, as is online co-op for up to eight players.
The underlying premise to The Wile Eight is all about surviving the harsh Alaskan wilderness after a mysterious plane crash. You'll have to tend to your fellow survivors' wounds, build a fire, hunt for food, construct some shelter, and discover what caused your plane to crash in the first place. You can check out the latest updates in the new trailer below.
Last week, they released a pre-alpha demo version of the game and, subsequently, were able to hit their Kickstarter goal. With the project funded, the team is now looking at some of the stretch goals, which include adding more features to the game and, if they can raise that much, a simultaneous release of the game on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There are 11 days left in their Kickstarter campaign, so check out the demo (which does not feature co-op, just FYI) and if you like what you see, head over to their KS page to support the development.

If you're unfamiliar, apparently it's where the Northern Hemisphere's "Pole of Cold" resides (the place where the lowest air temperatures are recorded). I didn't even know that was a thing! So, yeah, I'll go ahead and say that these folks probably know something about surviving in a harsh environment.
