Announced today, whether or not if you have one of the most current PlayStation consoles or not, Tiny Brains will be available as a cross-buy title. Purchasing the PS4 version of the game on a console will grant gamers a copy of the newly release PS3 version (PS4 version released on December 3rd) automatically, and vise versa; a win-win! Both versions of the game are currently going for $19.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Another delay, no matter how small, always bums people out, but in this case it's worth the extra week. With a December 3rd PS4 launch, Tiny Brains will be available for a healthy 10% off through the end of the month for PS Plus members. The announcement also came with a new launch trailer, so watch these 45 seconds of happiness as you settle in for another week of waiting:

In a Facebook post late last week, Tiny Brains' publisher broke the "not as bad as we want to think it is" news, reminding everyone to pick up extra PS4 controllers to bring friends in on the four player co-op. The studio also mentioned that both PC and PS3 versions of the game will hit "this holiday season", giving PS4 owners a little less time to gloat over their exclusive stuff.

Since Tiny Brains is launching alongside the PS4 for that console first, it made sense to show off the game on the PS4. This was my first time trying out the new console, and I have to say I felt right at home with the controller. A fellow media reporter and I were shown through a few different parts of the game, giving us an extensive and thorough look.

In Tiny Brains you and your co-op buddies play as four lab creatures who have been experimented on so long that they develop super powers. They're all trying to escape from a mad scientist's experiments, but each level is like some sort of demented maze, complete with multiple solutions that can be reached depending on how you work through the puzzles.

A modern-day Lost Vikings meets Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Brains is shaping up to be a heavy-hitting co-op game. You play as four creatures who have been experimented on so long that they developed super powers. So, for example, the force power uses telekinesis to shove things around while create makes walls of ice. Teleport swaps positions with objects, and vortex pulls things towards himself. Fairly rudimentary abilities, for sure, but using them in concert becomes an exercise in team-based puzzle solving.

Tiny Brains actually caught me off guard. I'd heard of it, but for some reason glossed over its announcement a couple months back. My mistake. Luckily, we had some hands-on time today at E3 and put the action puzzler through its co-op paces.
