Pick Up the Best Warhammer 40K Games to Date on the Cheap

Ok, in all fairness, the original Dawn of War was, in hindsight, a pretty average RTS game. But the sequel knocked it out of the park. The "Last Stand" mode that was introduced with the Retribution DLC is still one of the best horde modes I've played in any game across any genre. So go buy it, play it, and thank me in the comments later.

Warhammer 40k Titles 75% Off on Steam This Weekend

While a proper Steam Summer Sale has yet to be announced, gamers can get their Warhammer 40k fix from the latest Steam deal. "Warhammer Weekend" features several 40k games, expansions, and DLCs for 75% off. The entire Dawn of War franchise is on sale, as well as Space Marine. If you're into giant dudes in badass armor spouting nonsensical holy rhetoric while murdering space orks, this is the series for you.

DoW2: Retribution's Last Stand Mode Now Purchasable for a Cool $10

Do you love survival modes in an RTS setting? Or do you really love heroes in RTS games and would rather focus on playing a hero instead of micro-managing units? Or do you love the idea of DoW2: Retribution, but gosh-darnit, you have two other people you want to play with, not just one? If you answered "yes" to any of the above questions, then great news! DoW2: Retribution's the Last Stand Mode, the mode that focuses exclusively on co-op, is now available as a stand-alone game for just $9.99 on Steam. This is the mode where you and two other friends try to outlast waves and waves of enemies, each of you only controlling one hero. As you progress in levels, you receive new equipment for your heroes. A recent update also added new achievements to this mode which also unlock new gear. We're big fans of the Last Stand around here, and Mike and Jason even recently did a This Week in Co-op on the DoW2: Retribution flavor of it.

Steam is having a weekend sale on Dawn of War 2 and Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising. The two player co-op RTS from Relic was one we certainly loved and the expansion pack was equally as entertaining. Dawn of War II: Retribution Drops Games for Windows Live Support, Gains Steamworks

The latest expansion for Dawn of War 2, which will be in Beta form early next year, has officially dropped the Games for Windows Live support in favor of Steamworks. Dawn of War II: Retribution will make use of the Steamworks community features such as matchmaking, achievements, guest passes and chat capabilities.

Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising Impressions

While there are certainly enough new releases these days, of both the co-op and non-co-op variety, to keep a gamer busy for awhile, some of last year’s best co-op titles are seeing new life these days with expansions. Chaos Rising, the first major expansion to last year’s excellent co-op RTS title Dawn of War 2, arrived last Thursday and we could hardly wait to check out all of the new features it added. Those looking for a great add-on piece to an excellent co-op game won't be disappointed by this expansion, but players who are seeking a bit more than a fun diversion may want to think about holding off until the price drops a little.

The first major expansion to Dawn of War 2, Chaos Rising, is just around the corner so now seemed like a good time to hop back into the original as a bit of a refresher and to spend some more quality time with a game that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. I saw that Jackel was looking for someone to co-op with and thought, “Perfect! What better way to hop back in than through co-op?” It certainly turned out to be an interesting trip back to Calderis, Typhon, and the Angel Forge.
