Death on the Reik DLC Now Available for Vermintide

There's a loose story in the DLC (someone stole some books from the Inn Keeper and you need to get them back) to spur the group of adventurers to a new location, but really, we're all here for the chance to put the pointy end of the sword into more Skaven. The new levels, Reikwald Forest and The River Reik, offer more outdoor/open terrain where you'll get swarmed from all sides, so be prepared for some epic "fighting back-to-back moments" with your co-op crew. The new Ceremonial Dagger for Sienna (the fire mage) will help with this as it can set enemies on fire.

Fat Shark Added a Free, New Challenge Map to Vermintide

"Arrogance Lost" included a number of fixes and balances, along with some new outfits you could buy for $1.99 each, but the biggest feature of this free DLC was a new challenge for all the dedicated players out there. The "Trial of the Foolhardy" was a "secret challenge map buried behind a puzzling veil in the Wizard's Tower." Fat Shark promised that the first team to clear said challenge map would receive the next 5 paid DLC for free. With the puzzle out there and the bounty set, it didn't take the community long to start diving in and trying everything they could to uncover the mystery and claim the prize. A number of discussion popped up in the Steam forum, along with a guide that kept track of everything that was being tried. Finally, the mystery was cracked, a "world first" clear was selected and awarded the prize by the developers last Wednesday, and there was much rejoicing. The guide I linked to earlier contains the necessary steps for gaining access to the map if you and your rat-slaying crew are interested in checking it out for yourselves.

Next Vermintide DLC Slated for Release Next Week

"Stromdorf" will include two new story maps and one new weapon (the Executioner's Sword for Markus), which is one less of each than "Karak Azgaraz" had, for those keeping track at home. That's completely fine if the price is also less than past DLC, but no word just yet on what it will be. Here's what awaits you and your fellow misfits in this new adventure:

VR Mode Added to Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide on PC

This new mode is separate from the full game, but it is free for anyone who owns the game on the PC. It features four levels you can explore within VR - the familiar Red Moon Inn, the Hall of the Poison Feast, and two special VR levels, Reikwald and Ungdrin Rail - four different weapon types to use, and three different enemy types to slay. Unlike the full game, this VR mode only supports two players online instead of four.

Next Piece of Paid DLC for Vermintide Adds New Map

Before you can reach that beacon, however, you'll have to fight your way through the outlying settlement of Khazid Kro and track down a Dwarf engineer, and then fight off the Skaven menace through the Grey Mountains themselves and in order to locate a vault containing a special rune. After all that, you'll finally make your way to the top of the fortress to light the signal fire. Just as with "Drachenfels" before it, "Karak Azgaraz" will add two new weapons - a warpick for the Dwarf and a falchion for the Witch Hunter - that will only be available as rewards for the maps included in the DLC.

Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Out Now On Consoles

For a scant $39.99, you and your Console Squad can witness the siege of Ubersreik from the comfort of your couches. For the uninitiated, Vermintide is a first person combat game set in the now-extinct Warhammer Fantasy universe. In the most reductive sense, it's quite similar to Left 4 Dead, but with humanoid rats instead of zombies, and loot mechanics thrown in for good measure. Up to four players can work together online, meaning you'll never have to scour the Skaven-infested streets and sewers for rare items all by your lonesome. Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide Finally Hits Consoles Later This Year

We reviewed Vermintide when it came out on PC last year and couldn't stop singing its praises. In fact, we were so enamored with Ubersreik and its furry new inhabitants, the game got our coveted 2015 Golden Fitty Award (also known as Game of the Year). Drachenfels DLC Lands For Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide

Finally, you and your pals can ditch the now infested streets of Ubersreik and seek refuge in some gorgeous environments in the new "Dranchenfels" Update for Vermintide, available for $8.99 on Steam. "Drachenfels" includes three new adventure maps, Castle Drachenfels, "The Dungeons," and Summoner's Peak, all of which feature different environments and some crazy mechanics.

Unlike the Sigmar's Blessing DLC, Drachenfel will run you a few bucks. The exact price hasn't been revealed yet, though the previous paid DLC, Schluesselschloss, cost $2.99 for just one map so I'm guessing this may run somewhere in the $9.99 to $15.99 range.

The new mode is a horde mode, called "The Last Stand" (not to be confused with the same mode in Dawn of War 2: Retribution). Your plucky band of heroes will be challenged to fight off as many waves of Skaven before you (ultimately) perish. The mode will include one map for players to enjoy, and all of that will be free.
