Two New White Knight Chronicles Games Announced

Early last year, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, White Knight Chronicles was released in the USA. I was somewhat disappointed in the co-op, as you can read about in the review, but it was a very good single player experience for the most part. Level 5 has just announced that we'll be getting more White Knight Chronicles; in fact, not only will there be a direct sequel for Playstation 3, a prequel is coming to PSP, so you can power up into a giant White Knight on the go.

White Knight Chronicles Releasing Free Quests Every Week Through June

White Knight Chronicles was a game we enjoyed for the most part here at Co-Optimus. We've just received some good news for those of you who are having fun doing quests with friends online: White Knight Chronicles will be receiving FREE additional quests every week starting March 11th and running through the end of June! The quests will consist of one permanent quest added per week as well as temporary quests that will be available for only two weeks. The way you gain access to these quests is simple: just log onto your PSN account, fire up your copy of White Knight Chronicles, and new quests will appear on your World Map. Sony Playstation will be updating its twitter account in case you want to know which quests are permanent and which ones are temporary as well as when they'll be released. So if you've managed to complete all 50 online quests contained on the game's disc, look forward to new ones coming very soon!

While White Knight Chronicles is not the be-all, end-all, genre-defining game I had hoped it would be, it's still an excellent experience, and the co-op modes add some value beyond the single player story mode.

Co-Op Release Alert: White Knight Chronicles

As if we hadn't been waiting long enough already! White Knight Chronicles International Edition should be finally available on your friendly neighborhood game store shelves, and is shipping online, as well. Typically, new releases are on Tuesdays, but in this case, it seems the game was delayed a bit longer. White Knight Chronicles Video Details Online Gameplay Portion

There certainly is a lot of buzz in the RPG world right now between the recently released (and co-opable to a degree) Demon's Souls, and the upcoming (but with no co-op option, sadly) Final Fantasy XIII. One title that may be slipping through a lot of RPG gamers' radars, though, is White Knight Chronicles. We've previously covered how the battle system works, and what all is included in the online portion of the game, but today we've got a video from Sony that goes into much greater detail about what players can expect from that online portion. Featuring a four player online co-op mode, now with added voicechat, players are thrust into a fantasy world as they work together to tackle 50 quests.

It appears the long wait is nearly over. Epic RPG White Knight Chronicles is headed overseas to a Playstation 3 near you. Fans of giant knights in pointy armor have only to wait until the game's release on February 2, 2010. Dubbed the "International Edition", this is no mere localization, and adds in several features that weren't in the original Japanese version.

White Knight Chronicles Online System Detailed, Build Your Own Town

Earlier this week Jeff Rubenstein from the Playstation Blog had a chance once again to talk with developer Level-5 about their upcoming PS3 co-op title, White Knight Chronicles. In the course of this discussion, additional details concerning the online portion of the game were revealed, specifically the three online modes that will be available to players: GeoNet (a social networking hub for players to meet and form parties), Georama (think SimCity meets Dark Cloud), and Subquest (the co-op portion). What's more, voice chat has finally been confirmed for online play as well! Occasionally, it does pay to be the squeaky wheel.

One week before E3, and we're already catching shiny new trailers poking their heads out at us. What could possibly be more shiny than an early peek at White Knight Chronicles? This PS3 exclusive trailer was leaked early, hopefully meaning Sony has a few tasty tricks up its sleeve for the official presentation at E3. Some delicious details on Co-op perhaps? New White Knight Chronicles Videos Reveal Boss Battle, Low Level Encounter

Several new videos from White Knight Chronicles are up at Gametrailers.com. The game, an RPG from Factor 5, invaded Playstation 3 consoles in Japan in late 2008, and is due to hit the US in late March. At first, the big draw for the game was the epic single player campaign, featuring a character who transformed into a giant, mecha-esque White Knight, as pictured above. That alone made the game interesting. However, we here at Co-Optimus are more interested in the four player online co-op mode, announced much later in the game's development.
