Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition Out Now

Everybody loves enhanced stuff!

Role playing game fans everywhere have cause to flood the streets with their joyous cries. Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is now live for $24.99 on steam, a meager 13 years after the original hit. Import your main character from the last game or whip up another from scratch and dive headfirst into Advanced Dungeons and Dragons warfare. With additional characters, improved graphics, and more tweaked gameplay, there has never been a better reason to return to the Forgotten Realms in search of glory and sweet loot.

Let me fill in the details for those of you who haven't been obsessively checking in on the state of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. Baldur's Gate II was a game released way back in the year 2000 to the delight of critics around the world. You and up to six friends play a hero of your own making and are joined by a cadre of colorful NPCs, or a band of your own creations, on your quest to save all of existence. Combat and dialogue are based around the second Dungeons and Dragons tabletop role playing system, though the internal mechanics are obfuscated by the game crunching the numbers for you. The result is a character driven experience catered to the way you want to play it.

BGII: EE includes the original expansion to the game as well, providing three hundred hours of possible gameplay time. Your posse doesn't have to sink a week and a half in order to finish the game, though, that's just a rough estimate for the amount of content. Now has never been a better time to return for those Baldur's Gate veterans. And if you haven't played this before, you owe it to yourself to experience one of the most cherished and influential games of all time.
