Ever wonder what would happen if you Japan-ified The Running Man into a video game? Wonder no further, friends. Freedom Wars is the answer you've been searching for all this time. Instead of criminals fighting other mere humans for a chance to earn freedom, our customizable big-eyed anime convicts are set to wage war against a slew of monstrous enemies.
Feast your eyes on some gameplay footage.
That's pretty darn crazy, but I see the draw. This looks similar to Monster Hunter or Soul Sacrifice in a kind of "multiplayer boss-battle arena" sort of way. I imagine this is what an action-oriented MMO raid might be, but absent of all the trash mobs.
At least we know more about what this game actually is, right? A party based third-person action game with both melee and ranged modes, a lock-on feature, and something that resembles quicktime based abilities. Color me intrigued.
I still can't get over how good this looks. While it's not the most graphically advanced game of all time, the fact that you can play this game on a device that fits comfortably in both hands is still pretty neat.
