After a myriad of casual friendly arcade releases like Mahjong and Interpol, Microsoft is finally launching a hardcore gamers title in R-Type Dimensions for the Xbox Live Arcade.
R-Type Dimensions is a remake of R-Type and R-Type 2 in both classic 2D gameplay as well as a brand new 3D mode. If you've never played an R-Type game, the concept is simple. You have a constantly scrolling right to left screen with enemies flying at you. You'll shoot them down, collect powerups and conquer giant bosses.
Of course the best news is Dimensions is playable in 2 player co-op both online and off. There's even some difficulty tweaks like the ability to revive your friend and ship collision. R-Type Dimensions hits the Xbox Live Arcade February 4th, 2009.
