After getting pushed back a couple weeks, Fable Fortune kicks off its Early Access today on PC and Xbox One. While the game will be free-to-play once it fully launches, for now, if you want to get in and check it out then you'll need to pony up some cash. Fortunately, it's available at a discounted price for a limited time.
Like most CCGs, Fable Fortune provides players with the opportunity to earn packs of cards through playing the game and then assembling those cards into a deck. The title features six heroes - Marshall the Knight, Miracle the Alchemist, Crimson the Shapeshifter, Barter the Merchant, Temple the Gravedigger, and Sand the Prophet - that each has his/her unique ability to use in combat. The hero also determines what types of cards you can use in your deck as there are "Alchemist" or "Merchant" specific cards in the game, along with "Neutral" cards that can be used by any hero. You can go head-to-head against another person, or team up with someone to take on a boss in the co-op mode. Check out the video below for a little more in-depth description of the gameplay.
It's worth noting that at the moment, it is not possible to play the co-op with a specific friend. You may get lucky and get matched together if you both queue at the same time, but there's no way to invite a friend to play with you. It's something the developers are working on, but no ETA for when that might be available.
Fable Fortune is available on Steam for PC and the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Windows 10 for $11.99 until July 31st. Cross-platform play between the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions of the game is supported. After July 31, getting into Early Access will cost you $14.99.
