A few months ago, Sega launched the Astro City Mini V in Japan. The Astro City Mini V is a miniature arcade cabinet with a vertical screen, so it excels at playing vertically-scrolling shoot 'em ups. 23 games are included on the unit, including several co-op shmups like Raiden, Out Zone, Gunbird, and more. Classic gaming fans no longer have to import the Astro City Mini V from Japan, as Limited Run is now offering the unit and accessories for preorder!
The Astro City Mini V includes the following games. Bold titles feature 2-player local co-op:
- Action Fighter
- Armed Police Batrider
- Batsugun
- Battle Bakraid Unlimited Ver.
- Cosmo Police Galivan
- Desert Breaker
- Dogyuun
- Fire Shark
- Grind Stormer
- Gunbird
- Kingdom Grandprix
- Moon Cresta
- Out Zone
- Raiden
- Samurai Aces
- Sonic Wings
- Strikers1945
- Super Zaxxon (Exclusive to the Limited Run version of the unit)
- Terra Cresta
- Truxton
- Truxton II
- Wrestle War
- Zaxxon
The Astro City Mini V features a 4.6-inch vertical screen, HDMI output, and 2 USB ports for controllers. Existing Astro City Mini control pads and arcade sticks work with the Astro City Mini V, as do Japanese Sega Mega Drive 6B pads. An AC adapter is not included with the Mini V (not even with the Japanese model).
I own both the original Astro City Mini (which features a greater variety of games) and the Astro City Mini V (which is largely focused on shoot 'em ups). They're both great units for Sega fans and collectors.
Limited Run offers the following options:
- Sega Astro City Mini V $159.99
- Sega Astro City Mini $129.99 (Restock)
- Sega Astro City Mini V and Style Kit Bundle $199.99
- Sega Astro City Mini V and Astro City Mini Bundle $279.99
