Fifteen years ago we embarked on a journey. Frustrated with the state of information about cooperative games in the renaissance of online gaming, we set out to catalog all of the important bits of information about non-competitive multiplayer. On January 28th, 2008 Co-Optimus was born.
I've been incredibly fortunate to have a great team of folks all along the way. By my count 30 individuals have contributed to this website over that time. But there have been a steadfast few that have been with me since the beginning or very near it. Mike Katsufrakis helped developing our identity, create the artwork, web design, and UX. Locke Vincent joined us shortly after and brought video (and Canada) to the mix. Jason Love brought a passion for getting the latest news and information direct from developers. And Eric Murphy helped foster our community and grow social channels along the way.
Of course I'd be remiss to leave out Christoph Licht who joined us just a few years ago and has been an absolute MONSTER of keeping our database accurate and up to date. And finally Paul Acevedo who wrote for us many years ago and returned last year giving us some awesome exclusive content along the way.
There are countless other names that have made this site what it is today that have contributed in their own way and we've had a great many highlights including attending numerous E3 showcases with some incredible video coverage, meeting folks at Penny-Arcade Expos, and of course many studio visits to learn about brand new co-op games along the way.
Hitting milestones like this, it's always interesting to look back at some stats to reflect on accomplishments. Here are some of ours.
- Over 210 Million Page Views
- Our top 3 most popular co-op games of all time are..
- Attack on Titan (3.3 Million Views)
- Dawn of War 2 (1.2 Million Views)
- Halo: The Master Chief Collection (1 Million Views)
- Over 700,000 views on YouTube
- Our most popular video is "How to Summon your Friends in Dark Souls 2"
While "web gaming news" isn't as popular as it once was, we continue to nurture this site, the database, and the community who absolutely love everything that co-op stands for. You can always find the crew on our Discord and we'd love to chat or help you find a game to play with your friends or family. Many of us still stream weekly via Twitch on Mondays and Thursday.
I can't thank you all enough for being with us throughout these years and making this website what it is today. If we make it 15 more, I'll likely be a grandpa at that point. And I guess I'm ok with that.
We invite you to purchase some 15th anniversary branded gear from our T-Public Store. And if not, that's ok too.
