Just about a year ago, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge launched on consoles and PC to widespread acclaim. Since then, Tribute Games and Dotemu have supported the popular beat 'em up with a handful of updates, enabling combo co-op in the PlayStation version, and adding custom games to all versions. Later this year, a new mode and a fresh playable character, Usagi Yojimbo, will come to Shredder's Revenge via the newly announced "Dimension Shellshock" DLC!
The TMNT: Shredder's Revenge "Dimension Shellshock" DLC includes:
- The one and only USAGI YOJIMBO
- New game mode
- New alternative palette color options
- New bangers composed by Tee Lopes
Usagi Yojimbo (whose actual name is Miyamoto Usagi) is the star of a long-running series of indie comics from Stan Sakai. The rabbit samurai has crossed over with the Ninja Turtles several times over the years in both comic books and multiple TMNT animated series. His addition to Shredder's Revenge will be the first time that Usagi has appeared as a playable character in a TMNT console game.
The announcement screenshots reveal several new environments that feature background cameos from the TMNT universe such as Ace Duck, Scumbug, and Ninjara (the fox girl). At least one new type of Foot Soldier (a cyclops) appears in the DLC screenshots as well.
Along with the "Dimension Shellshock" DLC, Dotemu will be releasing a free DLC update that adds new color palettes to the game's existing roster of seven characters (which consists of the four Turtles, Splinter, April O'Neil, and Casey Jones). The alternate colors will include some sweet NES-inspired palettes. More colors means more visual differentiation between characters, which should be handy during busy 6-player online games!
While no price or release date (other than 2023) for the "Dimension Shellshock" DLC has been revealed just yet, the publisher promises to share more details "at a later time." We'll keep you updated!
