It came as no surprise when Dotemu and Tribute Games announced that TMNT: Shredder's Revenge would be getting some paid DLC in the near future. The Ninja Turtles-themed beat 'em up was a huge hit when it launched on consoles and PC last year, so of course it's getting new content. Fresh details about the "Dimension Shellshock" DLC reveal that it adds not just a new playable character (Usagi Yojimbo), but also a co-op survival mode. That's not too surprising since Streets of Rage 4's DLC, also published by Dotemu, added a survival mode as well.
The new "Dimension Shellshock" trailer offers lots of details about the upcoming survival mode. The heroes in a half shell and their friends will travel across dimensions populated by numerous cameo characters such as Cudley the Cowlick. After completing a survival stage, the team gets to choose from upgrades that will last for the duration of the run, just as in Streets of Rage 4. Uniquely, players will collect crystals that seem to act as some form of unlocking currency between runs. The new mode looks really addictive!
No price or release date (other than 2023) for the "Dimension Shellshock" DLC has been revealed just yet. We'll keep you updated! In the meantime, be sure to check out our TMNT: Shredder's Revenge co-op review, fellow shell-heads!
Shredder's Revenge sells digitally for $24.99 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. Physical copies from Merge Games are available on Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Switch for $29.99 each.
