Long before Bubble Bobble 4 Friends and Puzzle Bobble Everybubble, Taito released a unique pair of Bubble Bobble sequels that did not involve blowing bubbles: Rainbow Islands and Parasol Stars. After its inclusion on the Turbografx-16 Mini a few years ago, Parasol Stars: The Story of Bubble Bobble III is finally getting its own new release. The adorable platformer will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch later this year courtesy of ININ Games.
Like Bubble Bobble (and unlike Rainbow Islands), Parasol Stars is a single-screen platformer in which the protagonists must defeat all enemies on the screen in order to proceed to the next screen. Players control Bubby and Bobby, human versions of Bub and Bob, as they fight with colorful parasols. Their parasols can catch and throw enemies and their projectiles, a fun and unique way to fight bad guys. Throw in some vibrant 16-bit-style visuals and 2-player local co-op, and you get one of the most memorable games in the Bubble Bobble series.
Features:
