Princess Farmer is a charming match-3 puzzle adventure game from Samobee and Whitethorn Games. In it, players progress through a magical narrative while also stopping to match veggies together now and then. It supports 2-player local co-op, and it's out digitally on all platforms. Now, thanks to Limited Run, collectors can grab physical versions for PlayStation and Switch.
Key features:
- Hare and Make-Up: Earn Heart Coins to give to Ro at the Shoppe to collect different Hare Dyes. Charm the characters with dialogue options to unlock new outfits and harvest in style!
- Lo-Fi Beats to Match and Relax: The bubbly soundtrack is produced by Astra, blending chiptunes with lo-fi beats. Additional music is by Chloe Hotline, The Crystal Furs, and Anne Beyond the Darkness.
- Friends Who Match Together, Stay Together: Sure, harvesting is fun alone, but why not invite a friend? On the PC and console versions, harvest together and even make dialogue choices together while exploring the world. Use Steam's Remote Play Together to play with bunny friends no matter where their burrow is!
Princess Farmer's main game mode is broken up into 9 replayable chapters. Both the story and quick play modes support 2-player local co-op. The second player appears in some cinematics but doesn't speak. The story involves a farming bunny accidentally digging up a sacred relic. Thanks to the relic, she is quickly promoted to princess status. Players get lots of dialog choices - always a plus, but the game's deliberate use of texting-speak can make the story a bit frustrating to read at times.
The actual puzzle gameplay involves matching three veggies in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. There are a few twists, though. Players actually move their bunny princesses left and right above the playing field. The heroines can pull up to five veggies out above their heads and then place them back in the soil in order to make matches. It's more complex than the average Bejeweled clone, but most gamers should get the hang of it pretty quickly.
Princess Farmer sells digitally for $14.99 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, Steam, and Epic; and is also available on mobile. Preorders for physical PlayStation and Switch versions are available for $34.99 at Limited Run through January 28, 2024.
