Before the Five Nights at Freddy's movie finally got itself made, a brave man named Nicholas Cage made his own movie based on the same concept. Willy's Wonderland came out in 2021, and some people like it better than the PG-13 FNaF movie. It seems that QUByte Interactive made a mobile game adaptation that has since been delisted. Now that game is being ported to consoles and PC as Willy's Wonderland - The Game. Better late than never, right?
Features:
- Fight against hordes of enemies in "2.5D retro beat ‘em up" style inspired by the classics of the genre
- Go through Willy's Wonderland themed stages
- Two characters to choose from
- Make use of special techniques and powerful abilities
- Defeat multiple waves of enemies, as well as threatening bosses in each level
Basically, the game is a very basic 2.5D beat 'em up in which two characters from the movie fight against zombies (which I don't think the film has?) and evil animatronic robots. The game doesn't look very pretty, but it's pretty wild for a game based on such a small movie to even get created. The gameplay seems to limit attacks to the horizontal plane (a good thing for this genre), unlike the recent TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants. I'm going to have to watch the Willy's Wonderland movie now, I suppose.
Willy's Wonderland - The Game will cost $4.99. It will arrive on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam on Thursday, June 13.
