Since its debut in 2022, Massive Monster and Devolver Digital's Cult of the Lamb has amassed quite a cult following. The game, in which players must build their own cult of humanoid animals in order to overpower a group of evil gods, has widely been praised for its unique premise, wicked art style, and un gameplay. The only thing it has really lacked is multiplayer, but that will finally be fixed when the "Unholy Alliance" update adds local co-op in August!
Here's the official description of the "Unholy Alliance" update:
Experience the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign in local co-op, with one player inhabiting the role of the Lamb and the other taking on the mantle of the Goat. Enjoy new two-player twists on existing minigames like fishing and knucklebones, and choose from a selection of corrupted weapons, tarot cards, curses and relics as you embark on co-op crusades.
The Lamb and the Goat can swap weapons, deal extra damage when fighting back-to-back or deal a critical hit if their attacks are in sync. Solo players also get a heap of new powers and abilities to play with.
As well as the addition of co-op play, the Unholy Alliance expansion also adds new tarot cards, relics, buildings, fleeces, follower traits, follower quests and other secrets to discover.
This game is already pretty great, and the promised additions should make it even better. Both the dungeon delving and cult building aspects will be enhanced by bringing in a co-op partner.
Cult of the Lamb sells for $24.99 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam. The PlayStation version is on sale through June 20, so grab it while you can! Learn more about the game at CultOfTheLamb.com.
