The Gentlebros' Cat Quest series of action RPGs has always been adorably awesome. Cat Quest III certainly looks to maintain that tradition, casting players as the sole survivors of a pirate attack in a nautical fantasy world. A gorgeous art style, pirate ship battles, and 2-player local co-op are just a few of this threequel's compelling features. Ahead of the game's August release, free demos (with co-op!) are now available on Steam and Switch.
The demo begins with an innocent ship being sunk by a band of evil pi-rats. Only a baby in a basket manages to survive the destruction. That baby floats to shore where it's found by a friendly ghost named Captain Cappey. Fifteen years later, the baby grows up to become an adventurer.
1-2 local players will start out on island where they soon run afoul of more evil pirates. The heroes can attack with a sword or pistol, and they can also roll to dodge enemy attacks. After defeating their first fearsome foe, players will gain control of the pirate ship. From there, they can sail out for adventure! As you'd expect, this involves sea battles and landing on various islands to find more adventure.
Cat Quest III will arrive on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Steam on August 8, National Cat Day. The digital version will sell for $19.99. Physical versions for PlayStation 5 and Switch are available to preorder for $29.99 on Amazon. Be sure to try the demo on Switch or Steam before then, mateys!
